Building a medium gaming rig advice

So I've built my own pc, which was intel, and nvidia based cards. But now i'm looking to build a medium priced gaming rig for a mate for around £600.

I've never really looked into AMD builds, but should I stick to going for intel instead of AMD? Or can I get performance equivalent with AMD for cheaper?

If you want the most for the money then it's going to have to be a AMD build, unless you go with a Pentium G3258 and Z97 board with the idea of upgrading the cpu in the future (I wouldn't do this). If going for a K series i5 straight away the 4690K alone will take up 1/3 of the budget as it is a ridiculous £200 now. I am sure Stulid will be along soon to spec you something.

It just needs to be enough to run games on High, specifically for GTA 5 when it comes out in march, to run smoothly without problems
