The Mondeo has gone. Long live the...

On that subject, as im in Gibraltar, there's no real problem if I go for the Bluefin option...right?

As far as I know, its just a case of purchasing, getting cars ECU info, sending it to superchips via their software, receiving a map and uploading that to the car?

Might as well ask here, whats the process in upgrading the Travelpilot NX software?

My one comes up with the following:

MAIN_VER_SW: 0336_071128
REG_VERSION: DI_SWNAVI6.4C1P21
NAV_VER_SW: N0967VF__6.4C1P21

(And no, not actually taken out the Maps DVD to check the year on it..yet)

Are there any roads on Gib long enough to get the benefit of the extra power ;-)

The nav upgrade is quite straightforward. SP5.3 is easily available, but I can send you a copy if required. Burn the files to a CD or DVD, eject the Nav disk, put the disk in an it'll update. I'd suggest you have the engine running - mine gave a Low Battery about half way through and I believe if the power goes during the flash the unit may be bricked. I just left it and it was fine. I think the low battery warning on the Mk4 is a bit overzealous anyway.

Warning for anyone who does this without the engine running - Don't start the car if you see the low battery warning because it cuts the power to the nav unit!

Your software is quite old. The latest version is 1811, the bit after the underscore is the release date so yours is 28/11/2007, the latest one is some time in late 2010.

If your nav disk is original you might have a problem, I think it needs a 2009 onwards disk otherwise it tries to downgrade the nav software when you put this disk back in. I didn't have this because mine is a 2010 car.

If you've got Bluetooth, there's a 2012 update for that, Howard's written a guide for that posted earlier in this thread. On mine this added a signal strength meter on the nav screen which is useful.

Cheers Blueboy.

Yeah, wouldnt be for Gib roads thats for sure, Spain across the way though :)

Right, so my next port of call has to be to check the DVD disk, and if like you say its an original, I need to source an updated ('09 or later) DVD?

Radio codes Psymonkee, ill check when I get back home :)

That looks really smart. Rather liked the last new Mondeo I was in, so I can understand your comments. Makes me wonder how VAG shift so many similar sized boxes for considerably more money.

Brand. VAG is branded as Middle Class, more desirable, more refined, more reliable etc. Ford isn't. It's a perception issue.

Lol VAG more middle class and desirable so why does every little chav who's just got there licence rag round in crappy little white or black 1.0 Polo's on finance for small payment each month or drive a poverty spec Golf TDI trying to justify why they spent more on something that offers nothing more than other equivalent cheaper hatchbacks.
And as for the Passat just looking at one puts me to sleep the Mondeo is a nicer looking car.
Don't get why people like to put Vag in a league with Merc and Bmw

Have you taken a poll of the vehicle choice of every little Chav who has just got their license? I think you'd find your contention might be wrong ;)

That's subjective and I wasn't model specific.

There's no doubt (from a brand perception perspective) that Audi is in the same 'league' as Mercedes and BMW. I wouldn't extend that to VW or Skoda though; they sit in beneath, but above the likes of Ford.

I don't think there's any suggestion that Ford don't make good cars, but they aren't successful at placing the brand and conveying many of the most desirable traits as other companies. Perhaps they ought to change their Ad Agency.

For some reason I could never get mine to run the disc I burnt.
Can you send me the the latest version please?

Update: Found the Radio PIN.

Applied the 5.3, worked without a hitch, and found I had the 2010 maps DVD (2013 on order as the price wasn't too bad)
