SLI 970 owners who swapped for 8GB 290X.. pleased?

Initially, yes. Games were running well. But my system now playing up a bit currently in games, so will be reinstalling windows soon.

Though beginning to think it's the Gigabyte board. Wouldn't be the first time it's caused problems.

Will update again later, hopefully to say all going well...

Yeah, I've had a few annoying issues with my Gigabyte Z87X-OC

I have took my 970 out now ready to return, and put my old trusty Asus HD7770 1GB back in....

I will wait until the new AMD cards appear before splashing out ( again )

Well, after reinstalling windows, I can say that it looks possible that I could be happy.

Have only managed to test bf4 so far, but all that horrible motion problem I was having is gone.

3840x2160 on ultra and a bit of resolution scaling and usually maintaining over 60.

That is with three mind.

I returned my 970's but still deciding what to do

As long as you don't buy Nvidia again it's all good.

Stick with AMD they wont blatantly lie to you and tell you it's not a lie :D

Roll on the 3XX series !

You using AMD cards now?

Yeah, returned my 970's and went for the three 8gb 290x.

Don't hate nvidia for the 970 stuff, but I'm not condoning their behaviour by forking out stupid money for 4tb 980's.

At least my room warm again :)

You seem a prime candidate for a return and purchase of 2/3x290X 8GB.

1440P and higher the memory seems more possible to become a problem. 1080 I think it's pointless to send back but you fit at the highest end in this.

Also Kaap states that AMD are better at higher resolutions and benchmarks from other sources confirms this. The efficiency decreases as the resolution increases for Nvidia. So as a gamer seeking to play at 4K resolution, why stick with the cards that seem least suited to the job when you have the opportunity to get something better?. This has nothing to do with Nvidia or AMD, purely the vRAM and the dependency on this at higher resolutions. I'm just curious and I hope you don't mind me asking?.

EDIT: You posted the answer while I was writing. Please get out of my head :D.

Haha, nice one.

Yeah I am disappointed in Nvidia's total lack of care about their consumers. They blatantly falsely advertised the product (Have since changed the spec of the card) Went into full denial / damage control mode and then just washed their hands of the whole thing.

Been a long time customer of Nvidia, with this they have managed to put me off ever spending a penny on a GeForce lol. Nice move Nvidia :p

Like you I will not condone it, treating their customers like idiots..

Meh..

Glad your getting on well with the 290X's. Beastly cards these. Still not enough for me though. I'm itching for more performance @ 1440P. I want a monster card for Dying Light. Wish AMD would hurry up and release the 3XX series..
