295X2 vs 290X heat dump level within case?

What if you leave the top or side off of the case so it is exposed to the air instead of closing it and have an oven type atmosphere. Will that help for these cards and keeping things cool?

I have abused my CFX MSI Gaming R9-290s and one hits 94c the other 78c constantly when gaming. Theres corrosion on the heatsinks and such anyway heres a fix I did :

Cards are very close together - I have lowered voltages in MSI afterburner to -37 using unified gpu setting or whatever they call it. I have set core clocks to 887mhz and memory clocks to 1100mhz.

With vsync on I get max temps of 70ish C on the top card and under 65c for the bottom one on the most demanding games with the fans not even trying.

The only game that hits 80c is Battlefield Hardline, its Vsync is bugged and doesnt work.

This btw has been tested on 4K high or ultra on BF4, The Crew, Far Cry 4 and COD AW. At lower res and settings temps are also lower as the cards aren't pushing that hard.

The MSIs btw are the worst in terms of aftermarket coolers and my cards are the worst case scenario because of all the abuse and me not giving a shi**.

How are temperatures etc?
I finished the build and now with the case shut.

I've ran running Sleeping Dogs' Extreme bench (with the SSAA) that's known for high power consumption and torturing the vrm1, with 1215MHz/1500MHz (6000MHz) on +150mv on the Core Voltage, GPU max temp was 50C and vrm1 max temp 95C, compare to Gelid Icy Vision Rev.2 with the Alpenföhn vrm sink that I had which was on about 75C on the GPU and vrm1 was hitting around 105-110C.

Thanks for the info! To do or not to do! I would like the noise to go and also to get away from 94 degrees as I don't like things that hot!
