My daughter has spent the entire weekend on the PS4. She's never had any interest in gaming, but for some reason this weekend she's been really into it.

She started off abysmal but has got strikingly better just over two days.
I see a lot of potential in her future :)

Anyway, we were talking about gaming, and what I used to play, what I play now and why etc...

So, on one level of COD you earn a trophy called GG.
It took a few seconds to realise what it really meant (no spoilers here), but my immediate thought was of course 'Good game'.

That got me thinking, you never get GG, WP at the end of online games anymore! What happened to it?
It's polite!!

Can anyone think of games where it's still the norm to give a GG or WP when appropriate?

Granted I game much much less than I did, so perhaps I'm out of touch....

I tend to say gg at the end of every game.

Mind you I do like to say it at inappropriate times too. (Just spawned round ends, when totally unbalanced, etc..).
 
At the beginning of pretty much every MOBA you will hear someone say 'GL HF' and always get either GG or GGWP at the end from both sides, usually before it even ends if a team is close to having their base 'sploded.

People say MOBAs are toxic yet they generally have better communities than any shooter, they just require a lot of teamwork so it amplifies any BM.

See it at the end of every game in MOBAs and sometimes CSGO.

A game where I see glhf and ggwp in around 95% of games is probably Starcraft 2.

Typical 'modern day fps' maybe. You dont get that **** in games like Quake as they tend to have a smaller, less casual community.

For myself in a game like dota or such i still say gg, or wp, but only if i actually think it. Saying it regardless makes it just as pointless as never saying it.
 
I blame COD. First time I experienced abuse was in cod since then it's appeared in every franchise slowly.

The more you get insulted the better you've done.
 
It's a shame.

I like a good community.

ET used to have a very respectful community on the whole. Games like Homeworld (coming nack on the 25th!!!) was great too. Always used to get a GL HF before games and would even get sincere advise after games, especially when I got whomped, which was pretty much all games!!
 
Good lucks, great race, were common place in nascar 2003.

Friendly game, most gl's were normally prefixed with a from 'nottingham' ect... as it had a massive geographic even back 13 years ago on slower connections.

myself I only gave a gg back in the the q2/tfc days when you genuinely had a couple of balanced teams, or on a dm server when 80% of the players were as good as me or there abouts. Win, or come half way down the list, a bloody epic dm game of equals always deserved it, they were so rare.

In league of legends you get it a lot

Yeah some say EZ but mainly you get a gg at the end :)
