Used to run a small Jedi Outcast clan and it wasn't expected as much as demanded that any player in tags no matter what server or game type had to "gl hf" "gg wp"

Didn't matter what daft banter they spouted in between ( usual rules on racism etc applied though ) but just out of common courtesy at the start and end we expected em to demonstrate good etiquette.

When I play league of legends sometimes, people even say GG at the start of the game if someone messes up lol, they just think it's an auto-lose haha

It's a way of conceding defeat. If people think a game is over they'll type gg and then theoretically should allow the other team to finish unopposed. In reality of course they just keep playing but demoralise their own team.

You get GG or WP at the end of nearly every MOBA match, not sure what happens in MMO's anymore. but online fantasy games tend to get them. that or get rekt, either or really.

I remember playing UT it was always GG and HF etc in addition to this you would never spawn kill anyone. It was poor behavior if you did spawn kill and on the rare occasion that you did you begged forgiveness!

well in tribes 2 you ALWAYS got gg, hell the voice commands helped that! but then again, tribes had a more tight community, when you play with people you dont know and dont respect, gg's tend to be rare.

Yep I still use it all the time in Heroes of the Storm, as does everyone else. Its useful when there isnt a lot of time to say anything before a game ends.

I mostly do online sim racing, but most players give it a 'good luck all' or 'gla' on the grid before the race, and a 'gr' following it. It's all very courteous... until there's the usual guy giving it the mouth after being taken out mid-race.

That got me thinking, you never get GG, WP at the end of online games anymore! What happened to it?

Can anyone think of games where it's still the norm to give a GG or WP when appropriate?

Granted I game much much less than I did, so perhaps I'm out of touch....

As most have mentioned by now already, CS:GO matches often end with GG or GGWP out of total respect to all that have participated, even in casual matches now days. You tend to see most people type in 'GL HF' (Good-luck have fun) or 'HF' (Have Fun) at the start of a competitive game and 'GH' (Good Half) during half-time. People even say 'NS' (Nice Shot) at times... when they're not calling you a hacker

Hazard0 does say gg all the time even with negative K/D ratio, I adapted BM (bad manners) to make sure everyone hates me, mostly in mobas it's supper effective, as it's mind games a bit ****es off your opponents.

In BF4 I rather say nothing

WoT you usually get a GL HF from someone at the beginning and gg if it was a good one.

Although thats usually ruined by people yelling "Gold noob" or "idiot team".

Myself and a friend did get told to un-install the game and we were "bots" the other day, that was pretty funny.

I hate reading that in BF:BC2, the easy comments. It's just trolling. But yea, I always say GG, and even GL HF at the start.
