After moving on from LGA 775 a good few years back now I always fancied having two boards,
An Asus Maximus Formula II and an Abit IP35 Pro.
The Asus has always held it's money but just this arfo I had a winning bid on the Abit board. £30.20p + £4 PP

Not a bad price for a little play thing.

I know I have a Pentium 4 that will fit but I dont have any DDR2 RAM. Not yet anyway.

Looking forward to get my sticky hands on it.

Watch out for those VRM temps! I remember mine and it almost had cult status for being so good for the money but that was it. Good bang for your buck not ultimate overclocks.

Enjoy it mate, like you said its a little play thing and if you burn it out at least it will die with dignity!

Nice replies guys..

In my infinite wisdom, when I actually ran an Abit AW9D Max I downloaded a whole bunch of Abit files, drivers and the like. I somehow got wind back then that Abit were winding up.
I still have the disc and dug it out. Hurrah.

So just in case I ever manage to get my hands on the Asus board I like I am just in the midst of downloading a whole bunch of stuff from the Asus site.

Checked my CPU collection and it is a Pentium D 945 I have a not a P4. It will still work though.

Old case been evacuated later on. And, just got word from the seller. It is posted and on the way. Double hurrah

Nice little find, glad you happy with it. =)
In regards to those DDR2 sticks I sent you a trust message. I hope that's ok. =)

Whilst looking on ebay for RAM. Hopefully not needed now.
I found an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz, up at under £15 so far with under two hours to go. Will be better than my PD.
May just keep a very close eye on that.

Wasn't that the board that everybody was doing a bolt mod on the vrm heatsinks?

Was indeed, thats why i warned him about the VRM temps in my post. Considering how old the board is know id imagine the heat pads have seen better days.

So OP I'd consider removing the heatsinks and re-doing the thermal pads if your going to have a play and by that I assume running high voltage!. Have a look into the bolt mod as well if you can find any posts about it, guess most would have been archived by now.

Wasn't really thinking of OC ing but thanks for the heads up guys on a heat problem.
Yep would be worth while removing them and adding some new decent paste.
You never know if I do end up with a quad core I may tamper with a slight OC.

Quite excited on getting my hands on it.
Even though it's old. May treat it to a new case too, make it all cosy in it's new home.

I did reply mate

Instructions for the bolt mod are here in post 750. It's pretty straightforward and after reading up about this board I would be doing it even if not overclocking. The thermal paste could probably do with cleaning off and getting replaced after all this time anyway. Use a non conductive paste such as MX-2/4.

Brilliant bit of info there !

Thanks very much for taking the time to find that for me.
I will log it into my fav's and give the whole thread a good reading and even save those pics.
I have some decent paste but to be honest I am not 100% sure its non conductive. I will check it out.

Again, thanks

Hi guys.
been looking at various bolts\screws and found some plastic ones on ebay.

Size = M4 in various lengths, from 12 to 30mm.

Search ebay

Sorry if ebay link is not allowed. But it's not actually for PC bits. OK ?

I wonder if these little puppies would hold out in the heat ?

I messaged the seller about how heat resistant those bolts are.
He replied saying they are good for 100 degrees.

Sound good to me.

Any thoughts on these ?
