BT to buy mobile firm EE for £12.5bn

Goodbye UK call centre :(
Retentions, outbound and sales are always UK based whenever possible, it's just good business sense to do this. I don't see it going really, the systems used to support EE are not going to be cross-compatible with other BT support tools for a bit so change won't be quick.

I think it's good news for both sides as a business, OK news for the employees (I guess T-Systems will be likely replaced with Tech Mahindra fairly quickly) and OK news for customers.

I imagine it's now going to become the quadplay wars, Talktalk vs Sky vs vs Voda vs BT vs Virgin vs whatever ThreeO2 cook up.

Been with every single mobile provider and never had an issue whatsoever with any of them, all have been fine. As for Broadband been with lots as well and also never had an issue. For myhome phone however only once did I stray from BT and never again. Now BB TV and Home Phone is with BT and i get a nice discount, hoping now that with my current EE mobile I will soon gain some benefit.

I've been with every mobile provider and some landline/ISP's and quite frankly there all fine unless I have had a problem. Each time it happened regardless of company I had to spend too long on the phone talking to someone that didn't have a clue and it was no different per company.

I've not been a customer of either for the past 6 years.

EE was formed 5 years ago :p

like with couriers, customer experiences will vary huge amounts, and you will have bad and great service stories for every provider. to not use a company for over 6 years is a bit silly as they will have most certainly changed as tech has improved so will their customer service systems.

i'm with EE and have unlimited calls and texts, 2gb data, and an additional card giving me 3gb of data for my tablet all for only £18 p/m on a sim only 12 month contract. i'd say their reception is good and the price i can't imagine being able to beat. i just wish they kept orange wednesday.

the only annoying thing about BT buying them is that i can't see me benefiting from their mutli service deals as i'm with virgin in my shared house and talktalk for my office. i can then see their standard prices going up, so that they can "reduce" their mutli service prices and tempt you in to using all what they offer.

Urghh will leave EE if this goes ahead, but will up prices and the service will fall over, i can't see this getting passed the competition commissioner

There will be 3 carriers left irrespective of if BT gets it or not. I think they will get it

Unless I'm missing something I don't see a massive issue competition wise, if it was one existing mobile carrier buying another then that would mean one less carrier, but BT doesn't currently have a mobile phone business do they? I would have thought 3 buying O2 being a much larger (and less likely to be allowed) issue
