Do you arrive early/stay late at work?

My start and end times are flexible, but what annoys me is I need to log into an app once logged into the computer when I arrive and before I leave.

That doesn't sound too bad but the problem is if I have use a computer I've not been on before (happens at least a couple times a week), then it takes 20+ mins to build a profile and often half an hr before I can sign in.

In the 3 months I've been here I think the most I've done over my standard hrs is 2 minutes.

It depends on the circumstances. Generally under normal circumstances - I will be in the office for about 8am - to give me time to get coffee, check emails, make sure I know what I have on for the day so im ready to get going at 8:30. Doing this means I seldom leave the office after 5pm but occasionally I may leave half an hour later nothing more.

Exceptional circumstances though means that maybe once or twice a month I will need to be in the office for around 6am to 8pm/9pm due to projects we have on - this is always paid well and I am given the option to clear off for a while in the middle of the day and then come back.

I'm a manager for the EMEA section of a facilities management helpdesk for a bank, but I assist with implementation of client technology for the other two sites in LATAM/ASPAC which is why my shifts need to cover their operating hours as well.

I love it though, I can start anytime up to 10am actually being in the office.

Before I got promoted to this role though I used to put in 3/4 extra hours a day of "extra work" that wasn't originally mine just to help out my managers at the time.

Arrive just on time 6am then leave when last job is done 6pm Max but can be 11am onwards repeat for 4 days a week .given the choice work or home I choose home

I always arrive early enough so that if the manager is late or off ill I'm always prepared to open up in time for 9am. Usually 10 minutes, as I live near it's no problem either. Leaving on time, unless there's a reason to stay late.

In my old job I would be there some nights 4 hours or more to get work done, not because I couldn't do it in time but because there was so much to do and wanted to impress. Job before that the same as well.

But this one is easy, the only time I'm here late is if we get a customer in at 17:29:59 and decides to make it a 20 minute ordeal.

Ah some of you have the easy life!
I'm usually in by 7:30am despite not needing to be in by 8:30, bell rings at 3:30, at which point I have every right to leave but workload dictates another 3 - 4 or so solid hours. Getting home at 7-8pm is not uncommon!
Guess the occupation!

prostitute ?

I usually get in a few minutes late, I'm too fond of my bed.
this is balanced out by me usually leaving about half an hour late.

due to a change in operation hours of teams I support, I'm working on moving my working hours to 30 mins later, so will leave at around the same time I do now, but if I get in the same time I do now, I'll be early! :D

I come in 15min before I start.
I am ready to leave 15min before end, straight out the door.

+1

I will stay late if there is a big issue or someone drops something on me last minute and needs it before close of play but I am not the type of person to stay late just for the sake of looking important, unlike a lot of people where I work!

I'm in work usually about 30-60 mins early, takes that much time to get myself prepared to take on the day. I usually leave between 10 & 30 mins after finish, as usually if for example I finish at 5pm, I'm in available and then at 16:59:56 I get a call come through and am stuck on that!

Get in as early as my body lets me, I am on Flexi though. 10-4 are the core hours. I always feel like leaving at 4 is frowned upon. But it saves me sitting in traffic!

Have stayed a bit longer to finish end of play stuff before, but I work pretty fast so never really stayed more than an hour.

I get in at 8am and leave at 4pm, I won't do a minutes overtime as my company does not pay overtime. It's never hampered my promotions, I've gone from a Jr Business Analyst to a Snr Business Analyst/Project Manager in 5 years. Other people in the office stay late but that's because they are lazy during the day so need to stay late to finish their work.

I once worked in a place where they expected you to start 15mins earlier than you were paid for to ensure 'smooth' shift changes, you couldn't go home 15mins earlier though...

One day I was late due to a car crash which stopped the traffic, they docked me and a few others caught up in the traffic an hours pay for being 10-15mins late (Company Policy), which of course was nullified because 'Officially' none of us were due to start work until 15mins later anyway, I politely brought it up to the CEO and was told 'Tough ****.'

So I phoned ACAS and started a group Industrial Tribunal proceeding, which funnily enough made the CEO instantly change his mind and also end the start 15mins early idea a few weeks later.
