Booted up Dying light earlier on today and with 5 minutes my gpu fans were at full speed, exited the game and they didn't die down. The only way to get it to stop is a reboot but it happens every time I'm playing a game.

Also both afterburner and precision X are both showing 0% fan speed when on desktop, when I change the the fan settings to a custom curve the card ignores it and goes straight to 100% and remains there until reboot.

Update: Tried the card in another pcie slot and got the same results. The card is now back in the original slot and the fans now go straight to 100% speed as soon as I hit the desktop.

If you open GPUz sensor tab what is the core temps of the card??? Maybe try a different driver if all seems fine.

It's idling now at 25c, I have just updated to nvidias latest driver and no difference

You are using a pretty old version of GPU-Z, update to the latest 0.8.1 and what motherboard etc are you using..? I assume Windows 7 x64 from the screengrab....?

Did you update the BIOS of the card, if applicable.....?

Motherboard- MSI Z77A-G45, Win7 64bit and no I haven't flashed the bios

That means there something running in the background on your system that is causing your GPU to not clock down it core speed when your just on the desktop..

That would make sense, but GPU load is 0%. Personally I'd suggest uninstalling both Afterburner and Precision X.

Got fed up with the jet engine noise so I just reformatted my pc and it's sorted it, a bit drastic but the noise was getting to me.

Something must have been running in the background or got 'stuck' as a setting for that to have happened.

Glad you got it sorted - I'd liked to have known what that setting was.

Ok so my card is acting up again. Was playing dying light again for around 20 mins, fans at max speed again. Quit out and still won't die down, currently no gpu software installed. The only programs I have installed since installing windows are TS3, steam, vlc, firefox, filezilla and bitdefender

Edit: Also Firefox and bitdefender are new to my system, previously using chrome and kaspersky

Could be faulty, have you tried checking for a vBIOS update on the EVGA website?

What is the part number and cooler?

Part number- 04G-P4-2983-KR cooler is ACX 2.0. Card is completely stock, no oc or bios flash. Had a look on EVGA's site for vBios but can't seem to find anything other than drivers.

They do seem to release firmware updates for the ACX coolers. I'd suggest contacting EVGA tech support with your part number, serial number, PCB revision and asking if there are any updates for it that could fix your fan issue, if not it looks like it might be RMA time.
