I'm trying to keep cost down. To be honest I don't know which one is the most valuable for it's price range. My problem is that I'm in love with the 970, and the 4460 is the minimum cpu I can get without an upgrade in a good while, so then im limited a lot on the mobo

Therefore it will not be tied to your motherboard if it isn't a genuine copy, sooo.. looks like someone is going to have to be a little naughty with their windows install!

Why do you love the 970 so much? If you don't mind me asking.

For future proofing yourself, i'd personally get the best CPU/Motherboard/PSU and pick up a 7990 or something around that second hand for about £100 then upgrade it at a later date?

I don't know.. What do you guys think?

Oh the GTX 970 is like my dream. The main point is that it's a quite high end card, so it does what the R9 290 does, with much less power and heat which is a big plus for me. It's like doing more for less (wattage) haha

In regards to my windows 7, i'm afraid i'll swap in the mobo and boot it up and there will be some error! To ensure that doesn't happen, should I just delete my driver software and install the new mobo's one prior to putting it in my case?

Quite high end? Pretty much top without going above £350! Which Is 980/295x2 price range.

I'm guessing this would be the way to do it, I don't think It would make a difference though. Drivers are for Window's etc.. As it's dodgy just download the software that removes the 'Windows is not genuine' bit and runs like normal? it's an update or something. So just do a fresh install with that?

Or buy windows..

haha fair enough :) I'm a little bit worried about a fresh install, like having to organise 5 years of my pc again.

Sam, as you have a z97 would you recommend this one: competitor.
 
Why you worried? it is not hard to do, get the latest drivers for the parts from the manufacture website and then after that install your programs etc.

I have removed the competitor link, but that is a fine board.
 
1st up, if you have an illegal copy of Windows 7, copy everything on the hard drive you want to keep to another drive or such.

If you have an external drive great.

I would recommend getting a trial of Windows 10, if you can download it as an ISO and create a USB boot drive or disc. It will save you some money for a short period.

Your motherboard does not show up much enthusiasim when googling. But if it can run an FX-6300 CPU maybe it will do a little longer, the FX-6300 can still hold its head up in budget gaming builds?
The Superflower PSU is far better than what you have and will last a long time with a few builds.
The GPU is good value at that price, cheaper than a 970 would be.
