Seeing as I'm here I may as well ask about something more interesting..
So I've got my big boring diesel estate which is the tool I need to do a job. It's not at all fun however and I'm starting to want something to have a laugh in. I turned 30 the other day and grew up in Glasgow so call it a midlife crisis. I did think about combining my need for a big practical estate with something more fun to drive into something like a 530d but that doesn't seem like the best plan.
So for about 6k what should I get? Want something open top, preferably RWD. I just want something that I can take out for a blast when the need takes me. At this stage most running costs aren't an issue (within reason!), insurance won't be that expensive and I don't mind a high tax bracket. The only boring stipulations are that it has to live outside so if it leaks or rusts to pieces then it's no good. I wouldn't mind something that won't depreciate much, don't want to spend 6 grand now for it to be worth nothing in a year.
The S2000 fits the bill and I love how it looks and drives. Could also do a newer mx5, older boxster, older m3 or possibly something waftier and more v8 like an xk8 or some sort of merc.
So help me out, what's the biggest smile I can have for the money?
