I'm in the market to move on from a dreadful MacBook pro 2011 I have grown to hate, and I want to properly return to the world of pc gaming. I love the portability of a laptop and the current generation of nvidia mobile chips promise high settings, 1080p gaming, but no gaming laptop can possibly drive a 4k screen, and most gaming laptops are not bothering to put in the 4k screen at all.

So which would you go for, a 4k 60hz gaming desktop or a current gen gaming laptop?

my friend has a 4k laptop, quite powerful i must say.

I don't know why anyone would really invest in a gaming laptop over a desktop anyway.

Mobility, If you move around with work then they have advanatages.

When I was mobile with work I used to whack a Xbox 360 in my suitcase, being stuck in a hotel 8,000 miles from your freinds and family leaves you little to do except drink in a bar or play games in a hotel room but that was becasue i couldn't afford a laptop that would run games i wanted to play and the console was a good compromise.

If your sat at home all the time your right a desktop every day of the week, but if you spend half of your life on the move then maybe not so much.

Even at home I don't like being tied to a desk. Starting to regret spending money on desktop. Struggling to get back into it. Being tied to it. Laptop can use it anywhere.

They're completely different solutions really. If you want the best gaming experience then go for the desktop without a doubt but if you need any mobility then the laptop is your only option, no point having an awesome machine if it's at home and you're always in a hotel room.

Then clearly you are not very bright.

I don't think I've ever met anyone who is so clearly an obnoxious keyboard warrior troll in all my life.

Given the choice between desktop and laptop, a desktop solution is generally cheaper and offers far more options than a laptop. I have laptops and desktops, but for me a gaming desktop will always be superior to the laptop options.

At least House had the intelligence to offer a reason why but still stated that if at home, desktop > laptop. You've done nothing but insult and increase your post count while adding nothing to the discussion at all. try a little harder in future ;)
