Hi guys,

looking to take a small break within the next month or so.

Does anybody have any recommendations as to where to stay in Majorca please?

Thanks

Palmanova is nice, stayed there loads, look out for a hotel called Sol Mirlos, its brilliant.

Yes - I am looking for a good hotel please

But I don't know what area to stay?

I know that Maguluf is not for me!!! :)

Been twice (June 2012 & June 2013), stayed both times at the Iberostar in Playa de Muro. Certainly recommend it.HERE

Good access to beach, nice pools, food excellent & easy walking distance to the towns nearby.
Local transport is also good, buses run pretty regular & are cheap. A return ticket from the hotel to Palma was 12 euros. Takes about 50 mins by bus, but well worth it.

Other places worth a visit are Port de Soller, there's a trip you can do which takes in Luc (by coach), Port de Soller (by boat) & return to soller via an old 1930's steam train.
The Drac caves are ok, very busy & you can't linger around as you get hurried along by the guides, but worth going even if it's to only say you've been.

Alcudia on market day is worth a visit, very old town after 1pm the market closes & the town quietens down. Great place to eat, some really nice old cafe's to just sit around in & watch the world go by.

Don't think anyone would have been to somewhere as exotic as Majorca before.

I went last year and stayed in Palma Nova. Not bad, but it's very close to Magaluf. Everything around that area is noisy. Magaluf is grim, very grim. I went there on a stag do (yes I did organise it and it was a superb stag do) so it was just fine, but for a family break I'd maybe look elsewhere or another part of the island. I'm a big fan of Tenerife, but flying over Majorca it looked really nice in different resorts.

Been to Peurto Polensa...this is where someone tells me I have the wrong island.

As you can expect hotels on the front, I don't remember too many big high rise ones, the odd couple but that would be it. Plenty local resturants in the back streets away from the main front, and not too many signs out that said "all day breakfast" or "comes with chips"
But that was 10years ago now. So who knows what it's like.

Santa Ponsa is lovely. A bit further round the island from the Airport, about only about 30 mins in a taxi

Lovely beach, nice and quiet and buses to Palma every hour for €4.

Went last April and stayed here

In the summer season yeah, but mid to end feb the party season hasn't started yet. :)

Stayed in Alcudia last year, was nice but quite touristy. There were some smaller places along the coast and nice little harbour towns which were beautiful though. Love the sea there :)

If you're going in the next month I'd suggest some where in the Canaries instead, the weather will be warmer there at this time of the year. Majorca's nice though, I went a few times as a kid.

I stayed in Port Pollencia. (SP) Its really nice. There are hotels on the front, not much night life though. It was a fantastic chilled holiday if I'm honest.

Nice and warm in Sept when I went also.
