No, they are not - there are numerous other American doughtnut chains that are as good if not better than Krispy Kreme. Unfortunately none of them bothered to come over here so we are stick with Krispy Kreme and a pricing strategy that takes advantage of the legions of hipsters who think paying more than 10 quid for 12 donuts is some sort of badge of honour.

A shame, as they are nice, but the prices are ridiculous and the same donut from Krispy Kreme in the US is about 60 pence.

For a similar effect see also Five Guys - 15 quid for a burger that's better than but still the same concept as a Burger King (Paper wrapping, cardboard cup, box of chips). Which is also about twice as much as it costs back in the home market. Yet every weekend the queue is out of the door so people can show Instragram they spent 15 quid on a burger and chips.

yes they cost quite a lot, but still every store sells their allocation with ease.

I regularly buy a dozen box when on the motorway.

I LOVE THEM (only the plain ones mind)

This is surely a publicity thing. I refuse to believe that nobody would think 'hmm KKK yeah let's put that out there' without thinking of the Ku Klux Klan. I expect it was thought up unintentionally, they realised the connection, then put it out there anyway knowing they could laugh it off.
