I built my current machine in 2007 so its time for a complete new system.
I'm a little out of touch with things now. I'm not aiming for the best of the best with this upgrade but something good that will do me for a while. I'm not expecting to play all the newest games at full res with all settings on high.
I would like to overclock to some extent (but not push it to the extreme) and was looking at the i7-4790K as a starter.
I guess the first question I'm having trouble with is which case? Theres so many and they all are quite different. I don't see myself doing custom watercooling loops but would consider having an "all in one cooler" for the CPU depending on the cost - if you think its worth it. I'd don't want it to be loud though. I really would like a case that has fan filters too. It needs a 5 inch bay because I have a hot-swap SATA drive I use for backups too. Also needs space for 2 internal 3.5" drives and the SSD. I would like it to be quite neat inside, but not obsesively so. Would also prefer USB3 and Headphone socket at the front too. The Corsair Obsidian 450D looks nice to me.
My requirements
YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 - Devils Canyon Core i7 4790K CPU & Motherboard Bundle **£25 Saving** £379.98
1 x Samsung 256GB SSD 850 PRO SATA 6Gbps 3D NAND Solid State Drive (MZ-7KE256BW) £149.99
1 x Corsair Obsidian 450D High Airflow Mid-Tower Case (CC-9011049-WW) £99.95
Total : £639.52 (includes shipping : £8.00).
I realise its tight when you add in GFX & Memory & PSU so any help would be appreciated, budget around £1000ish

My requirements
- Need a Case, CPU + cooler, RAM, GFX, PSU (modular?), SSD, maybe pre-braided cables ?
- Screen is currently 1920x1080 @ 60Hz, but will upgrade in the future, so would like a little bit flexibility with GFX card or perhaps the option of adding a second at a later date.
- Main reason for upgrade is I want to play newer FPS games. I'm still playing COD4 but fancy something newer.
- I use Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop regularly.
- I'd like an SSD for O/S but already have drives for data etc. So no need for a huge SSD, but would ike to get a fast one for reads & writes.
- Would like 16GB RAM because its cheap and Lightroom and Photoshop will make use of it
