Hello

Just got a new MSI R9 290x last week. Noticed that opening/closing windows is kinda laggy , in fact windows itself seems kinda laggy even dragging windows around. Not a huge amount - just not smooth like it should be.

Any suggestions why this might be the case ? Could it be the monitors are showing their age?

MSI Radeon R9 290x Gaming Edition
Latest 14.12 Drivers
ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3
Intel Core i7-2700K @ 4.4GHZ
8GB RAM
Windows 7 64Bit
Hazro HZ27WC connected via DVI (Primary Display)
Hazro HZ27WA connected via DPort (Secondary Display)

Thanks folks
Martin

Ive noticed this as well. Since using omega drivers, seem to get a trail like effect with the windows and just generally is laggy and ive got a 120Hz monitor so on the desktop is should be as smooth as running a hit knife through butter but just isn't anymore. Tbh it doesn't bother me that much but just tad annoying.

So i guess its something which changed in the drivers.

You have correct refresh rate selected and resolution?

Yeah it defaults to 60HZ and im running at 2560x1440 the native resolution.

Wonder if the Omegas are my weird problem, as i popped them on as soon as i got my new rig up and running.

Im running a dock along the bottom of the screen (ObjectDock), with a load of my programs/games on, now, when i go over it, its all running fine, nice and fast, normal, but after sometime on the net, if i then move to my dock, its all suddenly running in slow motion, laggy as hell, and i have to open a drive, or open the task manager to sort it, as as soon as i do either of those things when its in slow motion/laggy, it just instantly goes back normal again, its very odd.

Im running an MSI Gaming 290X, and i never had this problem on my old x58 rig, with the same card (never used the Omegas on it), and with the same dock, which i just redone from scratch on my new rig.

Well to add more info i'm using display port and a sapphire Tri-x and never had this before since installing omega drivers and i used the DDU installer in safe mode, which i usually do for any driver install. Even reverted back to old drivers and the problem is gone so all i can suggest is it's something with the omega drivers.

Obviously not everyone is going to have the problem so people saying got bla bla here and no problem isn't really adding anything or helping other than suggesting you don't have the problem.. lol.

I'm just with the OP on this as i have his problem too! and IMO its something with the omega drivers.

What was your previous card?

Did you completely remove the old drivers and install the latest ones from scratch?

Previous card was PowerColor Radeon 6990X2 . Yeah I uninstalled, removed old card, inserted new card and reinstalled the drivers, seemed to all go OK . I could try again I guess, is there a good utility to do a cleanup ?

Thanks for the info , what drivers are you currently using so and are you seeing any performance hit ?

But it aint doing any harm either, IT also adds balance instead of all i see issues because no one posts they dont have any.

Also 2 users having very similar rigs but one has the issue and the other does not, but one is on windows 8 and the other is not which such a factor would not be taken into consideration if the one having no issues didn't speak up.

I am not sure what version of Windows r7slayer is on but that is a good point .

They are adding something by letting OP know the issue isn't widespread. And OP can then compare his system and see what the issue can be..

@OP does this show up if you record desktop?

I haven't tried recording, but it seems to be intermittent. Actually - it seems to happen if another task is taking place on the desktop e.g I was just dragging my browser screen there between monitors and someone sent me a Viber message so the notification window popped up in the task bar and the browser window started to lag/tear.

See I also only run one Display at any given time so it could be a Multi Display issue?

Yeah I was thinking that too . It does seem a lot better with just one display (the D-DVI) at the moment . I wonder would the DP cable be crap ? Its the one that came with the Hazro monitor I think .....
