New monster pc ordered, been relatively out the loop in gaming for a while just tend to do a bit of bc2 and skyrim.

But getting back into it what games have I missed out on all genres and a few that are just to have a giggle at the new up to date graphics a awesome lol.

Also I so need to try out supreme commander forged alliance again now I have a pc that won't slow to a damp crawl playing it online lol

Oh and is it worth picking up a 3d vision 2 kit or is it not that much of a difference/ more of a gimmick.

How did elite hero and x4 rebirth turn out in the end?

Dying Light is a must at the moment.
Far Cry 3/4
Crysis 3
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Mod Skyrim to the max!
Alien: Isolation

How far back has it been?

There are hundreds of games, really depends what you're looking for.

Visually then games like:
Crysis 3
Far Cry 4
The Metro series (Redux)
Alien: Isolation
Dragon Age: Inquisition

All good looking.

There are 101 indie games worth a look at:

Brothers: A tale of two sons
The Swapper
Deadlight
Starbound

Shooters you have BF4, Counter Strike, Arma etc...

Tbh the list is seemingly endless.

I used 3d vision for awhile, its ok in games that use it well but it kept making my eyes feel funny after prolonged gaming.

So ditched 120hz and went 4k which in my opinion is way better than using 3D.

Witcher2 on ultra (and nicely timed for the Witcher 3 coming soon).

Farcry 3 is a great shooter. I hear 4 is even better.

I hardly ever use 3D vision personally. It can work very well on some games, but I find the implementation on a lot of the games I play to be lacklustre. Wearing the glasses detracts from the gaming experience imo if the 3D isn't done well.

Answers that won't bother getting the kit then lol.

Game wise looking for something with great story but any genre.

Just need something I can get sucked into really. Endless space is an amazing time sink but you don't seem to actually be doing anything most of the time. It's hard to see where the time goes.

I've got gal civ 3 on steam but waiting for the final release rather than the early access to play it

Shadow of Mordor seems to have got a lot of good feedback on here recently, haven't played it myself but it's on the list for when I decide to get my ass in gear.

+1 to this, best game I've played in some time. Graphics aint bad either.

Dying Light is awesome.

As above though, the usual suspects are also very good:

Far Cry 3 & 4
TitanFall

Elite Dangerous is my current time sink. Steep learning curve but, immensely addictive. Could be this decades WoW.
Tomb Raider is excellent
BF4
Wolfenstein NO
Diablo 3 & RoS
Divinity - Orignial Sin
- Old school RPG but utterly fantastic
Skyrim (maxed out) if you haven't played it
Dishonoured & DLC's Very good game but, not a stealth game and certainly not as good as ...
Thief Great addition to the series. I think some expected too much of this but for me, it's a great sneak em up. Still the best stealth game going.

Indie or non AAA's:

Vanishing of Ethan Carter - Excellent adventure game
The Talos Principle - FP puzzler (wait for it in a sale though)
The Stanley Parable - Get it in a sale and try it. Very peculiar but also very good.
Outlast - Fab horror game similar to Amnesia
UnEpic - Really good platformer
Steamworld Dig - Another really good platformer/exploration game
Gauntlet - Nuff said about this. A great update
Kerbal Space Program - Starts off really boring but grabs you by the throat
Brothers - A tale of two sons - Very short but quite possibly the best game I've played in recent times.

The list could go on and on tbh

Far Cry 3 is under £5 on Kinguin at the moment. By all accounts Far Cry 4 is pretty much the same thing, so you might as well start with 3.

I can confirm Zefan's suspicion that Shadow of Mordor is fantastic.

If you like strategy games, Rome 2 is pretty cheap these days and while not the best in the series by any stretch of the imagination it is a good game now they've patched the hell out of it. Attila: Total War was released earlier this week and I'm enjoying that so far.

Dark Souls! Definitely a game that can suck you in. Get the Prepare to Die Edition of the first game - Dark Souls 2 will be re-released in April so there's no point getting that now. (Only get DS if you have a gamepad. If you try playing it with keyboard and mouse you're going to have a bad time.)
