What to use to glue piece of rubber on tyre?

I damaged a little section of my front tyre's rubber rim protector a few weeks ago by driving too close to a corner. There is a loose piece of 10mm rubber.

I have had it checked by two garages and both are happy it doesn't warrant replacing the tyre or is unsage. Both said to just superglue it back.

I tried that but it didn't hold. Had a look online but can't find a recommended definitive product to use that I can get at Halfords/DIY places or online.

Any suggestions. I presume it will need not to dry brittle due to the movement/vibration, which is probably why superglue didn't stay.

I'd think the vulcanizing rubber cement stuff that you use to plug punctured tyres.

Yup that's what I'd use. Most bike puncture repair kits come with it.

Rubber cement as above. Clean the super glue off properly first though using some emery.
