loads of cats in my garden how can I stop them?

1# Apply for and get a holding licence.
2# Add sheep to your Garden.
3# Dispose of cats.
4# Enjoy lamb burgers.

But the problem is that there's is literally nothing you can do about it due to the nature of cats. And that's what's damn annoying. If someone's kids are ripping up your plants you can do something.

If I allow my Boxer to drop a massive turd on a cat owners front garden, I'll get in trouble.

Their cats poo all over my flower bed in my front garden, pull up my shrubs and sit on some killing them. There's nothing I can do.

Well maybe invest in some automatic sensor driven sprinkler, but why should I?

I'll stick to wishing death on them and kicking them if I ever get close.

The same could be said about other people's children. I do find it concerning that people seem to be attempting to justify their psychopathic tendencies with "...but they make a mess of my lawn". Honestly, if you think it's acceptable to torture, maim, and ultimately kill a cat because it's done a poo in your garden then maybe you have bigger problems!

Do you often find other peoples children come into your garden and rip holes in it? I can safely say we don't have a 'child problem' on our street and never have.

I have never suggested torturing or maiming a cat and have no interest in killing one either, but I would certainly humanely kill it to prevent the pest coming back (IF it was legal), as you would on a farm. None of the suggestions in this thread work long term, so what alternative is there in a world where there isnt greater cat control and more responsibility on the owners?

Do you think its acceptable that other peoples pets can damage my property with no recourse?

Because are clearly more welcome in our society than you are, know your place.

cats > humans
any cat owner knows the cat considers himself the master

It's utterly disgusting when it's your vegetable/fruit patch.

I had this problem when my dog died. Loads of cats in the garden. My wife had a go at me for trying to shoot them with a catapult (I was a crap shot). Anyway we have 2 ducks living in the garden now and I've not seen any cats since. So get some ducks in your garden!

Do love the cat owners with the defence of 'aw they're just lovely little fluffy things'. Aye, cos they're not crapping in your garden, they're dumping in someone elses!

The 'neighbours cats shouldn't poo in my garden' argument has been had so many friggin times on this forum. It's really boring.

I'll say it again, get one of these. Though I'd shop around as I've seen these for about £30 before... At £60 Contech is about right... Could be a fun project to make your own.

Why should someone have to though?
Perhaps cat owners should have to buy them for their neighbours?

Because in reality you need a minimum of two (front and back) and anything more than a tiny garden you need two per garden. And then you need to think about running a hose to the front garden which is not practical for me in the slightest.

And then you think.... why should I go to all this hassle for someone else's pet?

You know what's really boring? Constantly having to redo my garden because a cat has dug holes and pooed everywhere.

If they want a clean garden then do something about it.

It's not realistic to expect a cat owner to 'stop' a cat from going in other peoples gardens. And it's not realistic that the owner should come into your garden and pick up their ****.

I do agree with you about cat owners buying repellants for neighbouring gardens. Wish mine would.

except i dont think even a cat is classed as a pest on a farm legally. owning a few sheep (as someone said above) wouldnt count as cats arent a pest towards a sheep anyway. as i said earlier id wager all normal farms welcoming cats to keep rodent populations exploding while feeling on livestock feed/seeds.

loose dogs on the other hand, hence the law for it being legal to kill loose dogs if harassing livestock.

twisting the rules for farms to suit a garden is just daft. if you had a free-range gerbil farm then perhaps you could apply the pest rules ;)

You need firm, definitive and swift action. Erect sign postage that declares the garden a no cat zone. Specify that offenders will be fined.

No cats should enter your garden anymore.

Take used teabags and pop a bit eucalyptus / albas oil on them and place them in the areas the cats soil. the smell is very strong and it should deter them. It should be safe for the plants, not be too unsightly.

My in laws swear by it
