How did Tony Blair invade Iraq?

I was still in South Africa at the time, so I had no idea what the sentiment in the UK was. I just hoped people wouldn't buy the lies.

they didn't actually know for sure - no one had a crystal ball... trying to put some additional spin on Int reports to make what they suspected to be the case more credible isn't the same as outright lying (though obviously rather dodgy) - it was pretty plausible that he still had active programs to create WMDs, he certainly did before the invasion and had various fun and games with the UN inspectors etc.. at some point between the first gulf war and the invasion the programs clearly stopped

yup the invasion was perhaps a mistake in hindsight - but the idea that the WMD threat was completely fabricated or that Bush/Blair are now somehow 'war criminals' is a bit ridiculous

Two conclusions for me. Either he was supplied very poor intelligence, in which case a number of people within the intelligence agencies should be held accountable.

Or he knew he was lying. In which case he should be held accountable. The death of Kelly never sat well with me, I think the whole thing was ********.

Yep. And your first point would back up the fact that Blair was just a puppet for these "agencies".

If they had this world changing event planned out to the tee, reflect it with what is happening today... More and more of our civil liberties, public funding and controls are being willfully surrendered to these same agencies which are either diabolically corrupt or just don't know what they're doing like most government agencies.

But it was only needed, because we supported Saddam in the first place...do hundreds of thousands of people need to die because we play chess with nations?

Yes as long as they are not "our" pawns they are utterly expendable.

It's the way of the world tbh, it's been going on for centuries and will continue to do so long after we in this thread are pushing up the daisies.

he fooled us, he is a war criminal, and he is dreading the day Bush Snr Dies, because he alone is being protected, Blairs protection by the Queen is not enough to hold out till he dies.

He might of fooled you, not everyone.

I don't know if the search function goes back far enough, but the same arguments that people making against him on here were eventually all proved to be 100% accurate.

lies, misinformation, spin, pretty much the same thing the Labour Party did about everything.

Well ultra tory has said he's a war criminal so thats it folks.

I think people disdain for the previous 3 terms of labour (miss)management makes people salivate for some kind of blind justice.

We should carry on destabilizing the Middle east every ten years or so, keeps them on their toes.

I had a fascinating conversation with an afghan refugee the other day in school. he loves Americans, he personally really appreciates what chaos they have helped bring to his life. (sarcasm)

Where as I'm just overjoyed with the contribution to world peace and human rights made by his country.

You could always try to refute the allegations in the link provided. The site was created by arch Tory and cryptofascist George monbiot.

This post may contain traces of sarcasm...

The crime of aggression (usually bracketed as something separate from a war crime - it's usually categorised as crimes against humanity/genocide/war crimes/crime of aggression, but they're seen as the big four categories).

Then under war crimes proper there'd be questions to answer with regards to capturing/locking up/renditioning/etc people, and all the other dodgy treatment we heard about, given Article 8 of the Rome Statute.

So how come we never locked up whoever was in charge of Argentina after the Falklands

Life must have been a 24 hour Mardi Gras under the Taliban. The West isn't going to sit idly by whilst Al Qaeda train themselves and plot against us aided and sheltered by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Good terror, or bad terror?

Never a truer word said in jest bud.

Our intelligence agencies warned us what would happen if we attacked Iraq - Tony blair was NOT listening to our intelligence agencies otherwise we would not be in the mess we are in now, with homegrown terrorists, and the likes of ISIS fools.

The Middle East problems stem way past the iraq war - British imperialism days are what REALLY messed it up - we just continued to support the puppets we had in power over there. Tony is definitely a war criminal - try telling the millions of innocent civilians who lost their lives over there otherwise (not to mention our own troops lives).

Democracy? Arab Spring? - Yeah right, it was all just a facade to try and get someone more favourable to the 'west' in power. Tell that to the Egyptians - they voted for a party democratically and then we supported another dictator overthrowing this democratic party when they didn't play ball with us.

Hypocrisy at its best.
