I'd recommend reading an article on my site entitled 'The 4K UHD Experience'. This runs through scaling on 28" UHD models with photographic examples.
the only reason i don't want to use scaling is because it kind of defeats the object of having 4k res because using scaling takes away some of the working space.
i've just read that thanks

so i really don't know what to do, either go for it or leave it.
i tried getting the philip 40" monitor from here on friday but failed tbh i found it much harder to get Finance from here than anywhere else.

but hitachi capital are not a nice bunch.
It "should" do - its pretty much essential to use the monitor properly, but its always a bit hit and miss what cable bundle goes into any batch/region of monitors :|
Something to bare in mind - not sure what your setup is like - for 4K resolutions displayport cable lengths over 2m can be a bit of a lottery for stability - if you need a longer cable length than that (the included one is probably 1.8m-2m) you'll need to do some research.
EDIT: There are a couple of good unboxing videos on youtube.
