Could i actually take any action?

Why were you using a store at all and not returning the damage product online, within 7 days of receipt of a broken box with missing items inside?
I don't quite understand how this degenerated into a slanging match in a store when the purchase was online, and you'd be round the loops several times with customer services.
I also fail to see how the games can't be used on a new machine? Buy one from another source, enjoy XBone goodness.

Write them a letter, as they have asked, a physical letter, not a little email.
Stop posting on this thread.
Move on with your life, and if you get a nice result later, then bonus.

As i've said multiple times i'm going to write a letter and a email when i get chance to tonight.

As i've said before i wanted to try resolve the issue without having to get a refund. When i got told a controller would be replaced in 2-5 days i didn't mind waiting because the console looked like it was in perfect condition not a mark on it only the corners of the box were damaged. If you actually read anything i said you would know this.

If you did read what i had said in prior posts also you will know i never said anything about the games not working with another console i was just looking for a certain limited edition console as before.

Also no other source was selling the Xbox One i wanted and it was Out Of Stock at the time of wanting to replace it, So once again you obviously didn't read my prior post again.

If i wanted a plain standard console i could have gotten one.

As for you saying i should "Stop posting on this thread" I'll continue posing on this thread. I'm not wanting to get in a argument, The reason i started this thread was to get advice.

I've gotten very good insightful advice so far so why would i stop?

Your post didn't exactly help but Thanks and have a good day.

I did this also an old non hdmi model 360 20gb with rrod, toweled it and traded for a new model with hdmi 120gb and paid 30 quid difference.. cheap and i wasnt without my xbox :')

First Game I went to it RR'd so they were straight up p'd off with me trying to cheek them. Took it to the local one after toweling it again and it worked :cool:xD I was beaming when they said "yep all's fine" haha

What?

I must have missed that bit in your OP also, I saw no reference to a limited edition xbox. Which one was it?

OP said:
it's been eating away at me at night.
Advice and opinions are welcome

Threads evolve. If something is eating away at you at night. I'd suggest write the letter and sign it off in your mind, forget about it, move along with your life, don't keep going back over ground that annoys you. If your letter gives a bonus in the end, then great, else forget about it. That was my point, else we can keep bumping this thread once a week, with some helpful suggestion, and make you relive the entire experience again.

The Xbox 360 failure rate was appalling. My friend went through five units before opting for a PS3. When the inevitable happened to me, I used the towel method, took it down to GAME and traded it for a PS3 also. I left with the biggest possible smile.

This is something for small claims court and as you already got a refund nothing more can be done. You could claim for emotional trauma, seek legal advice

Failing an adequate response from HQ, get the story up on Reddit, the audio on Youtube, and links to both on facebook, twitter, and any review website you can find.

Stick the recording on you tube/twitter and try and get it as far and wide as you can lol and see e game do damage control

You've got a refund which is (or may in fact be more) than you're entitled to.

A very minor bump in the road of life.

Time to move on.

Lol what?

You think a refund is "more than he's entitled to" for being sold something broken and with parts missing?

Jesus this is like getting a car with no wheels and a blown head gasket.

OP, that's atrocious! I would definitely take it further. I've worked many retail jobs (some in a managerial position) and even considering the restrictions HQ/suppliers can put on stores regarding returns, that is taking the wee-wee.

Also, I've never worked in a store that can't function fully (ie. refunds) because the manager isn't there. That's why you have AM's and Supervisors. Even for a store as notoriously rubbish as Game, I find it hard to believe that is acceptable (or even "legal"?)....even to them.

Of course, this is assuming you weren't being an absolute nightmare right from the get-go? ;) Out of the hundreds of refunds I've done in my life, I've only refused a customer once - because she was literally screaming in my face as soon as she walked in.

I've never had a problem when dealing with the smaller store on Parliament Row, which is where I assume you're going on about. The larger store inside the Potteries Centre though, well that's a different kettle of fish entirely - it very nearly came to fisticuffs in there.

"It very nearly came to fisticuffs in there?"

What? I'm confused!

I know its no help now but I do my best not to buy from these faceless companies anymore, everything is always somebody else' decision/responsibility and they truly don;t care about the customer at all.

I actually feel good paying more from a company I like and know I can trust when the **** hits the fan.
