Just installed my 290, but I have no sound now from games. Desktop sounds are fine. I'm using the same DVI DL cable into the top slot of the card. My speaker cable is plugged into the correct port, all just as before with my 760.

Speakers are set in Control Panel > Sound.

Would the latest AMD drivers have affected/installed something here?

Did you install the HDMI audio drivers? If you clicked express install they will have installed. You might need to go into the control panel>sound to select the right device.

Make sure you not using hdmi audio.. And instead select on board or sound card.
It might have default to hdmi audio from GPU seeing you not using hdmi that would give you no sound.

@Matt, I did a custom install on the 14.12 drivers, everything was selected.

Edit: Made a whoopsie. Nvidia HD Audio was still installed. Take it removing that should solve it?

Don't think it's neccessary. You just need to go into your sound property and make sure your soundcard or onboard sound is selected as the default device.
