I have a 780Ti Classified Kingpin Edition at stock but have a 290X coming.

I've been playing Dying light and the game seem to stutter a lot at max settings on my 1080P 27" Monitor and 780Ti).

Is this a VRam problem and will the 290X with its 4GB of Ram make a difference.

Also play a fair bit of Battlefield 4 so will this suit the 290x better because of the Mantle support.

Problems with Dying light must be linked to something else.

I play at 1080P with my 3GB 280X with max settings and I don't get any stutter at all.

The 290x is the superior card to the 780Ti, but not enough to justify replacing it IMO

I have two of these under water overclocked at 1440p and have zero issue's at all.
If I don't have VRAM issue's at 1440p you won't at 1080p

Seems like a pointless move on tbh.

The 780ti is quite a bit faster than a 290x you will be disappointed.

It's not these days. The 290x has moved on performance wise where as the 780ti has stagnated. Games are starting to use more Vram so the 290x is the safer bet. At 1080p the 780ti still has a slight lead that then turns into a loss at 1440p. Only 6 months ago the 780ti was a match for the 290x at 4k but not now as it looks like Nvidia are no longer pushing performance enhancements for these cards.

Here is a recent gtx960 review.

Compare performance to when the gtx980 was released.

The Kingpin is still a nice card so i would punt it on while it's still worth some nice money.

yes about 25% at 1080p (i have both). Still 290x is no slouch and i guess you would get more cash selling the ti.

25% faster? wow a 780Ti must be much faster than a 970 also then? lol.

Never has been 25% faster not even at launch it was 15% at the most! However that was mostly compared to reference 290X in uber mode... We don't use references in uber mode these days. Most have AIB card which are significantly faster and with the update drivers id beg to differ if the 290X isnt faster.

ok, in benchmarks e.g. Heaven in general games you wouldn't notice.

I have a Matrix Platinum TI in one system and an 8gb Vaporx in the other.

Doing my maths again, it's more precisely 19% in my exact case. Your numbers may differ.

290x runs cooler though in the same case

edit: both at stock, latest drivers.

I could get good money for the 780Ti if I sell it now as its the Kingpin Version running at 1215Mhz & 1749mhz Core & Memory (Stock)

Should have the 290X tomorrow so will try installing it and see what I think.
