Ok I have a Asus Sabertooth Z77 which had a 780Ti in it and all working fine on windows 8.1.

Installed windows 7 on new SSD.

Received 290X today but will not post.

Tried 290x in another machine and it post fine

Ive read somewhere about Secure Boot (was with different mobo) and have turned it off but still no post.

I'm pretty good with PC's but this has got me puzzled

I expect flicking the bios switch will have done it. Enjoy your new card. :)

Yes could be :)

Also another quick question ran a few benchmarks, Heaven etc and its hitting 90-93c at full load, is this normal with stock cooler?

Perfectly normal for the reference cooler. It's able to dissipate more heat and run quieter if it runs at 90C+. However if you want lower temps you can create a custom fan profile using Afterburner to keep temps lower, at the expense of more noise.

I'd recommend undervolting the card while running it at stock clocks to have it run cooler and quieter under 3d load.
