NVidia used to target phones and mass consumer tablets but they gave up for various reasons. They changed they mind and now they target different areas like automotive.Again, based on what?
Nvidia have publicly said they are not trying to target phones and mass consumer tablets (though willing to work with if approached, e.g. nexus)”
The margins for an IP company like Imagination and a company like NVidia are massively different. Imagination do not produce and sell chips so the margin tends to be around 10p to 30p depending on what GPU was used. NVidia on the other hand produce chips so have a margin in the £20 to £30 pound range. So given similar volumes NVidia would be in the $billion(s).“As apple use an imagination design gpu it shows you right there what the margin would be for nvidia trying to get their chips in to phones, not billions at all, its nonsense to use apple as an example of margin for a chip maker who doesnt manufacture and sell directly to end users.””
Please show some evidence because I have seen nothing but articles talking about a loss. To quote NVidia own Annual report for fiscal year 2014 “Tegra Processor Business. Tegra Processor business revenue decreased by 48%” Or to put it in money terms the drop was around $366 million year on year.“Where are you getting it that tegra is running at a loss? Every article i can find talks about growth and profit in tegra.”

According to the numbers Tegra lost £268 million in the year ending Jan 2014. It’s not going be that bad for 2014 to 2015. Last time I looked the growth had meant the loss was only $53million.

I don't mean that in a nasty way.
