Thanks everyone for your generous welcomes! I'm trying to fly through a very long to do list atm so can't reply individually, but I really appreciate it
Welcome!
Promise you will be much more fun than Rick from NVIDIA?
I don't know Rick from nVidia, but I would say that I provide medium levels of fun. Remember, rules control the fun!
Hello and Welcome!
Does this mean we have a rep for RMA support?
Hmm, yes and no, I suppose! I will do what I can to help out with RMA issues, naturally. I've had all sorts of issues myself in the past and I know how maddening it can be! However, I don't work directly with the RMA team and I can't, say, physically go and look at a board. I know that's not exactly an answer, but hopefully it's a starting place!
Hi Jim
Maybe you can look in on the DSL-AC68U thread in the Networking section. Many of us are still getting unsatisfactory performance with this modem when using the VDSL modem in the UK. It still seems that fixing this is very hit and hope. Its improved for some, yet for others like myself its totally unusable. Ive had this modem since launch in August and as yet its still not fit for purpose.
Welcome though!
OK, I'll make a note to have a look at the thread on Monday and see what's happening. I don't know much about this at present so wouldn't want to get ahead of myself, but I'll definitely have look into it.
Hi Jim, welcome and I hope you'll become a regular here, not just a hit & run "hello" kind of rep.
Can you tell me if there's any progress been made towards proper localisation of your routers? With the new firmware to comply to FCC rules (that don't even apply outside of the US), Asus are taking away proper localisation and leaving all European countries with the very few bands available in Switzerland makes the product a much worse performer. I would never have bought your product if I known you were going to do this, and it's prevented me upgrading to newer firmware.
When are we going to get proper localisation back so people can use the bands they are legally entitled to, instead of the lowest common denominator in a region of a dozen countries that have nothing to do with the FCC rules you are trying to force on us?
As above, this is news to me - let me look at this properly next week and I'll see if I can give you a useful and meaningful response. As for disappearing, right now being here and working with the forums users is a key part of what I do, so I'm not going anywhere as long as that's the case. If and when that changes, I'll make sure I let everyone know that I'm moving on or whatever happens to be the case!
Hi Jim,
Welcome to the forums

If you don't mind me asking does this mean Asus will be looking more closely at it's UK user base and the issues it faces when dealing with Asus?
Hi Avalon - I wouldn't say that exactly. I think we're aware that it would be good to have stronger direct links to our customers in the UK, and that's why I've joined ASUS. I've been a PC enthusiast for a good number of years now and active around various tech sites (although not these forums, unfortunately), so hopefully I'll be able to help out where I can and improve your experiences with us. Hope that explains a bit, but feel free to ask questions
