295X2 or Gigabyte 970 G1 SLI

That sounds like coil whine to me and listening again, sounds the same as the first card. Are you sure they swapped it for a new card?

Can only go off what EVOAddict said through messages, his words where.

"We are able to get the card back under warranty for a replacement but please be aware that the card may give off a little coil whine due to the high power of the card. If the coil whine can be heard from outside the case with the all side panels on then that is excessive."

Followed up by.

"It has been replaced so if the new one does not ship by 4pm please let me know."

The box + the way it was packed looked as though it has been opened before but i find it hard to believe two cards would give the same result......

Sounds awfully like the first card to me.

I've sampled three 295x2's and none have had any coil whine, but i expect some do suffer with it.

Can it be heard outside the case with all the panels on? If it can I'd probably return it if it was me, DSR if needed to get one without it.

Or you can wait it out and stress the card and the coil whine may reduce or disappear completely over time.

It's crazy, I want this card to work so much, like I keep saying the performance is wicked but the issues I've had are putting me off.

I've had coil whine cards in the past and I've been able to deal with the noise output. This is on another level. Your also right this does sound identical to the previous card I had.

Here is a video on BF4 with all PC panels on - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2-insCa9X0&feature=youtu.be

That's pretty bad i think, I'd return it. This time note the serial numbers down so you can make sure you get a different card.

How mine sound running Unigine Valley. :)

Man that's all I want haha :(

Just messaged EVO saying im not happy so lets see where this takes me :/ He was very good last time so only time will tell...

Show him the videos, that's all the proof you need. You can always DSR.

Ask in the 295x2 owners thread if others have coil whine because as far as I'm aware, it's pretty rare on the 295's.

Reponse : "I have just tested another card and it does have a little coil whine so it looks like it is just due to the power of the card and they re all going to be roughly the same.

It doesn't look like it will be any quieter on the coil whine as it looks like it is something card does."

Looks like i may have to jump ship. Gutted

Can you try different cables on your power supply? Maybe try mixing things up a bit.

Don't forget to ask in the 295x2 owners thread if others have this problem.

Is that your current PSU, an OCZ? I wonder if that's responsible.

I can hopefully test a cooler master 850 tonight to rule that out. I just assumed an OCZ 1250 would be fine especially coming from 970 SLI

I'm guessing that response he posted is from the retailer?

I just wonder if it may be responsible for the coil whine as sometimes the psu is at fault.

Hi, that is OCUK response after going back and saying im not happy still.

I just wonder if it may be responsible for the coil whine as sometimes the psu is at fault.

I'll give it a blast tonight and also ask in the 295X2 thread failing that im prity much stuck this generation i think.

Well I'd assume they used a reasonable power supply to test.
Definitely pay to ask in 295x2 thread about coil whine
