Is it possible to set up a wireless network and only allow mobile device access to it? Or is there no way to distinguish between a mobile and a PC?

Depends entirely on the access points you're using. A lot of them have a way of classifying the devices based on OS signatures and diverting them to different VLANs, applying different firewall rules, or deauthing them.

There is a couple of cheap ones there at the moment but as long as the cost isnt too prohibitive then we would happily change them out to something suitable. Can you suggest one that may be able to do it and I'll take a look at the instructions.

I have no idea what a prohibitive cost would be, but I know that I can do this on Aerohive units.

I was hoping to get something around the £100 mark per unit but the Aerohive untis seem way above that sadly.

Well if you only want to allow known devices only then you could use mac address restrictions

Sadly the devices wont be know to us

Its in a business centre which charges a small amount for each broadband connection and people are trying to therefore connect to the wifi which is just a complimentary thing.

Its not about trying to make money off it either, the wifi is restricted to slower speeds so when people connect to it they end up moaning that its slow etc so thought if there was a solution that wouldn't allow computers to connect it would solve it completely.
