I have 48t in a Cobra mk3 its just so time consuming not sure its much faster/profitable than another route I found making 55,000cr per trip in about 10 mins so 300,000cr per hour roughly.

CLUSTER 2
Lave (Lave Station 286ls) - SELL EVERYTHING from CLUSTER 1... then BUY Lavian Brandy
Leesti (George Lucas 259ls) - BUY Leestian Evil Juice AND Azure Milk
Orrere (Sharon Lee Free Market 961ls) - BUY Orrerian Vicious Brew
Diso (Shifnalport 284ls) - BUY Diso Ma Corn
OPTIONAL - Uszaa (Guest Installation 4350ls) - BUY Uszaian Tree Grub

Looks like you're basically running the same route as I am. Second leg runs Witchhaul to Altair, right? I've been making decent money doing it in the Type 6 but I don't think it's necessarily the most efficient way I could. Certainly more fun than back and forth between A and B. I reckon by Saturday I'll have enough for a decently-loaded Asp, maybe.

Yep same run I just think its nowhere near enough for the hassle I can A-B although more boring & make the same money per hour with less risk as already come close to being Interdicted fuel scooping & or in an Anarchy system where I have to refuel as Cobra has a tiny FSD range.

Rares routes seem to be dependent on how much stock you can buy of certain items last night I netted 250,000cr after expenses just now I netted 800,000cr 1 way only for the same route! Huge difference this time I was more careful about only buying low value items with a higher galactice average price ;)

Yeah. I guess I was in a better position with the higher cargo capacity, but I have noticed that some things have way better prices when you get to the other end. So rewarding to watch the credits roll in. :D

Interesting Dev update (I dont think its been posted yet)

Reducing ship repair costs to make combat easier to profit from. (yay!)
Better chat functionality
3rd person camera
Mac beta..

other stuff..

Improved chat will be great, especially local broadcast. There have been so many times at a nav beacon or RES where I've wanted to ask everyone to join in on a target but the effort of having to select and talk to each one individually makes coordinating anything difficult, so I'm looking forward to that.

I ended up hitting my target of 14m (including current ship and upgrades) last night, so now I bought an Asp. I get 84T of cargo space, rather than 88T, but it handles so, so much better than the Type 6 and is far less of a target for pirates, I think. Cockpit view is stunning, too. Only trouble is, I'm not really sure what the best loadout would be. At the moment I'm running the following: http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=40g,0...5Rg5Rg,2-8S8S88726u8c8I,0AA7TM05U05U4zq03w7d_ and there are definitely some improvements I could make to shields and life support. I also want to swap the pulse lasers for beams at some point. Not sure where I can find a large range of modules near Lave, though, so was just going to wait until I get to Altair on my trading route and then hit up Bhritzameno. :p

Is that weapon set good for the Asp, though? Doesn't seem like anything beats multi-cannons for hull damage, at least not in terms of value. :(

Being able to see your ship in 3rd person would at least give me a reason to maybe get a couple of skins for the ship. Playing in solo with one is kinda pointless.

I cant see your loadout from here (work block the link) but I ran 4 gimballed class 1 multi's (secondary fire) and 2 gimballed class 2 beams (primary fire), with A rated modules. Didn't encounter anything it couldnt handle!

I sold it for a type 7 to do a bit of grinding, but haven't actually played in the last couple of weeks. Planning on getting the clipper next.

Personally looking forward to making "chat" easier. It always seems a bit... aggressive... when you have to target / scan a ship to message them. Believe also the wings update will enable bounties to be shared which will make joining up with random people when bounty hunting a nicer prospect.

On another point, is it me or are anarchy systems not as anarchic as they might be? Took a break from trading rares to sit at a nav point in an anarchy system, expecting to be attacked fairly aggressively by pirates etc. Got there, nada... zip. Got a few bounties but the place was pretty damn quiet to be honest. I was expecting it a little more like the original Elite where you couldn't break wind in an anarchy system without someone attacking you.

Can someone help me with outfitting on my Cobra?

Basically I've not upgraded anything from stock except for changing the cargo racks to 16 capacity and I've also added a fuel scoop (the jump in fuel costs from the Hauler to the Cobra are a little eye-watering at first! :eek:)

My issue is predominantly with the FSD jump range - I seem to remember the Hauler could do circa 14 whereas the Cobra only seems to be able to manage around 9 making the rare runs a lot longer!

I've looked at upgrading the FSD but can't see one that makes my jump range longer - I think the default one is an "E4" and my understanding is that "4" is the "best" I can equip so I'm essentially looking for "D" rated drive as it's lighter?? (please correct me if I'm misunderstanding!)

The other options are surrounding the power module and coupling - again I'm not really sure what the best option is to go for on a trading ship!?!?

Regards fuel scooping, I really struggled at first as I was overheating really quickly and seemed to be getting interdicted every single time - until I settled at between 97-100% heat while scooping at roughly 20/s - is this any good? (I also didn't seem to get interdicted as much when going at minimum speed underneath the star in question!?!?!)

Any advice is welcome as I did Legend's rare run and "only" netted around 500k so could do with it being more efficient!?!?!?

I like the idea of exploring space and just flying around, so I'm interested in picking this up.

Can I play this with a control pad?

I don't mind using a keyboard and mouse, but I prefer using a controller.

I use a Hotas X. Someone on AVF informed me they were on Amazon for £30 so I bought one. Awesome bit of kit and I couldn't imagine trying to play this any other way.

I must admit I do like the look of the X52 and the Warthog but, it's a fair bit of outlay for some gaming kit. That said, I can imagine I'll be playing this for a while so it kind of justifies it I suppose :)

The FSD is a component you don't want to be D, if you're going for jump range. Basically, make all the other components D where you can, and then with the FSD, upgrade it further. Even a C will be a significant increase in your jump range.

WRT power plant, just make sure you can power all of your modules. If you're not getting into combat and haven't added any other weapons, 4D for both power plant and power distributor should be just fine, really. Here's an example of what you can get with a 4C FSD, for example: http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=402,5QG5QG,2-6u6u6k5K5K5K6k,0720727Re03w03w4yG

That's basically the setup I'm going for, though I need to trade a bit more to go A on a few of my modules. Glad to hear it can hold its own. I guess I just need to invest in decent shields and shield cells to prevent any costly hull damage. :p

StevieP - what JHeaton said ;)

The class refers to size, not quality, the rating refers to quality. Try to keep the size of your moduels matching the size of your slot, you can try class 3 modules in class 4 slots but you really need an eye on how this effects your ship's performance, so make life easy for yourself.

Ratings - A is best and things get worse in terms of performance from there on. Class A and C components tend to be the same weight, A obviously providing more power / thrust etc etc than a C. Class B tends to be the heaviest component, Class D tends to be the lightest so if weight is an issue go for D but you will get less performance than a C, B or A component. If its any help my cobra is fully A rated and unladen has a jump range of 22LY (if I remember corrently), laden just over 19LY.

Regards your fuel scooping what class fuel scoop are you using?

With my Cobra it can do 16LY jumps with 48t cargo.

Get a Class B or C FSD rated 4 then also upgrade your Power + Distributor to match look at each part then look far right it shows the effect on jump distance the less a part weighs the higher the jump range. You have to upgrade the Power + Distributor when buying a higher spec FSD then it will increase the jump range also look at Life Support that also increases overall jump range/ Look at parts which weigh less as well on other areas of the ship it all combines to help the overall jump range ;)

Would not bother with a Fuel Scoop either for now as you take heat damage every time so it becomes costly to repair just jump about 70-80LY then refuel as the higher spec FSD allows you to go about 90-100LY on a single tank of fuel so before it runs out dock at a station to refuel seems more cost effective than Fuel Scooping IMO.

Also remove all weapons & the Shield generator it make no difference to Interdiction with or without I still got interdicted all the time just be careful as you only have 100% shield once that goes its Insurance time so watch out when leaving the Space Stations ;) This is all on Solo BTW I would not risk no shields otherwise !!

Did you know about the plasma accelerator before getting into this fight? You take two hits from it head on when you first attack, then when your shields went down, you took several more shots. That's a class 4 weapon, it's deadly (it can one-shot smaller ships, or one-shot subsystems on medium and even larger ships); you need to avoid getting hit by that as much as possible. You simply can't tank that kind of damage, especially with no pips in your shields.

You need to move more. Make use of lateral/vertical thrusters, FA-off, boost, whatever. Keep moving and make yourself a hard target for the plasma accelerator especially. It's not the fastest moving energy weapon, so you can get out of its way. Ideally, you want to be behind the Anaconda, or at least only either above or below it. By being right in front, it can damage you with all of its weapons.

You're also not using chaff. NPCs love gimballed and turreted weapons, especially on their big ships. Chaff throws off their targeting (gimballed weapons can still be fired if they deselect the target but I don't believe the AI does this, whilst turreted weapons are rendered pretty much useless); you want to be using this if you can, it can be a life saver at times.

Don't be afraid to get out of there if your shields go down. If you have fixed weapons, you can hover around the 3km mark to avoid damage, kite them a little, then move in again when your shields are back up.

Finally, don't underestimate the AI. Elite AI are supposed to be very good, particularly at managing their power distribution, and making use of FA-off to keep facing you. It seems as if you went into this fight totally unprepared for what was about to come. Is this your first Elite Anaconda?

Thanks for kicking a man when he is down :( I have done many of those missions and whilst I am still learning, I have never come across that level of being owned, which is fair enough and I am still learning. I have done mostly trading and exploring and avoided the conflicts.

Thanks for the pointers though and duly noted :)

Best way to think of modules is as follows :

A = Advanced
B = Armoured (this is why they're heavy)
C= Standard
D= Lightweight
E= Budget

As stated above the number is basically the size - depending on module you can can use lower sizes (to increase your jump range for instance) but there is always a quid pro quo and some slots simply don't function efficiently unless you use the correct size (Frame shift drives especially).

For those of you having trouble when fuel scooping - throttle down to zero then align the "mavity line" surrounding the star you're scooping from with the horizontal notch you'll find on pretty much every cockpit (the bottom of every front screen has a cut out on it on all the ships I've flow so far). Then accelerate and watch the heat gauge - the idea is to get it to as near 100 as possible once it gets to say 90 throttle back and cruise keeping the mavity line just visible. With practice you should get about 90-95% efficiency from your fuel scooping without having to make any adjustments. Note if the heat gets up to around 102 /103 it will continue to rise even if you throttle to zero so try not to over shoot - also if you find yourself over heating a lot (the T7 is awful for this) make sure your powerplant and distributor are specced high enough - a small powerplant can run your ship but it gets stressed and can't dump excess heat. Fine for a ship where you buy your fuel (like a T7 where fuel is so cheap it's not worth scooping) not so good for people on a tight budget.

And for the person looking for upgrades near Lave - try Leesti - it has pretty much everything.

Hope this helps,
