I was just wondering how much id have to spend on a new gaming machine to play games on the 120/144Hz Monitors, im still stuck in the stone ages with my PC as its only a -

- Intel i7 930 (Overlocked to 4Ghz)
- Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel DDR3
- Asus P6TD deluxe
- Ati 5970 XFX Black Edition
- Windows 7 64bit
- Titan Fenrir Cooler
- Corsair HX 750W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply
- 250Gb SSD

So basically im looking at a new build plus the monitor, how much is this going to cost me? No price checks please

Nothing apart from GPU and even then it's completely subjective , totally depending on what games you play and settings you are used to.

as long as your GPU has the out puts for the monitor you are good to go, when it comes to games on the other hand you have to consider how much grunt you need to push the extra frame rates, how much you are getting currently etc

For example if you run with Vsync on at the moment which caps you at 60fps depending on the refresh rate of your current monitor and you take off Vsync how much FPS are you getting in the games you current play.

as for overhauling your PC
the i7 930 is still a damn fine CPU and holds up well and you would be better off waiting to see what the next line of CPU's are like.
You might just want to up the ram to double if it's cheap to do so
switch the GPU out and you are golden but again it's completely subjective on what you want to achieve, what games you play and what games you would like to play in the future (and settings you want to use)

Well i just play battlefield 4 at the moment and i can't run it on high as its to laggy. Been looking for a decent game for the PC but none have really caught my eye.

BF4 is very cpu heavy in MP

TBH either a GPU or CPU upgrade would benefit you.

For best bang for buck upgrade, get a 290/290x GPU.Would give you a substantial graphical upgrade, and you could easily get 100fps+ on bf4 maxxed out.

Using mantle API in BF4 would also help you on the cpu side a little.

Your CPU is still fine generally, but in games like bf4 an upgrade in cpu would be a noticable.improvement.Look to upgrade that at the end of summer when broadwell/skylake releases.Get a 290/x just now.

A GPU will do you nicely. The i7 is still powerful and with that overclock is prime for a powerful GPU to be paired with it.

AMD 290 or GTX 960/70 - This would make a nice upgrade.

Pretty decent system you have already. Aside from the GPU suggestions, you could also look at getting a cheap Xeon 5650 CPU for a couple more cores - should overclock to 4Ghz+ fairly easily.
