I've hit the overheating problem lots of times and mentioned it in here. I thought it was a bug at first or a problem with my Hotas. I honestly don't know what it is though. The moment I use my thrusters, my temp rises stratospherically to the point of blowing up. There's nothing at all I can do here.

I'm going to blow up and start again

Sounds like you need to look at getting a larger power plant. :(

Can you let us know what your power usage shows in the modules pane, and also in the outfitting window in a station?

Sorry, I've already SD'd. I couldn't move anywhere so had to restart

I meant more to see if it would continue to be a problem. It does generally sound like you're running modules that your power plant can't efficiently handle. I made the mistake in my Type 6 when I first got it and would hit ridiculous temperatures every time I charged my FSD. :(

Now doing 90K for return journey on same route :D

I dumped my shields again...

If only could manage to make my jumps just a little further I could do it in one...

should always fit a bank of heatsinks

charge fsd, wait until 105, pop heatsink, wait until 105 pop heatsink, should have engaged by now, if not greatly mass locked.

I'll get the HS's when I've made a bit more money. I was nowhere near anything when I had to self destruct. I was literally in the middle of nowhere. The moment I pushed thrusters forward to engage hyperdrive or supercruise, it overheated to 200%. It wouldn't go lower than 73%. Mad

Either way, I blew up and carried on.

Why is it some star systems (especially binary systems) then have your destination 500,000ls away..!! I mean that is ******* ridiculous. It's half an hour of just being sat here doing nothing. I suspected before I jumped into the system it was going to be a ballache because there were two stars. I looked at the mission details for exactly where I was going and there was no option to set 'a star' (star B for example) which was miles nearer. I could only select the system and what a surprise, it put me miles away from my destination :(

Even dumped my weapons

I just did the same thing, travelling up to a yellow giant cluster at the very "top" of the galaxy and need every bit of jump range I can muster because distances between stars are so great at the edges of the galaxy.

One more trip and can afford a major upgrade for FSD, so no more mucking about with weight.

This morning I wouldn't even have dreamt of being able to afford upgrading my ship. Now about to drop 500K on a FSD :D

Oh, it is. :3

Just had my first repair bill in the Asp. It hurts. :(

Man, it's going to take me about 20 jumps fully loaded...

Is there any way of organising my route before embarking so I'm not jumping, checking, jumping, checking no the nav map? You'd think there'd be a route planner.

Find the target destination, then in the little menu that pops up, hit plot route. It will set up all the jump points for you as you jump to the next system. :)

Make sure you also fly away from the star/sun before engaging your FSD. Make sure you ship heat is around the 50% mark before even starting anything if you still having overheating problems.
