So at the moment I wear lightweight trainers for weekend driving and trackdays but I quite fancy getting some 'decent' driving shoes.

What do others wear (if intended as driving shoes or not) and what is the best option? I don't really need fireproof etc but I do find depending on the footwear I'm wearing it can make a massive difference in control and feel.

It really comes down to thinness of the sole, tightness of fit and weight. I have some Sparco race boots but frankly I'd only consider them for track use or you look a bit, well, tard like at your local petrol station. If you want the best for track use, just head up to GP Racewear or Demon Tweaks and try on a few different pairs.

I actually had a pair of cheep trainers circa £30 that were great as they fitted well, were light and had a very think sole on them. M&S I think.

I've used lonsdale trainers for years and they're quite thin so I can feel the peddles quite easily through the bottom of my foot.

I use a cheap pair of puma speed cat for Karting. Round heel which makes them great for long sessions

Same, the cut down boxer boot trainers have the look of trainers and the sole thickness is similar to race boots.

Perfect driving shoes imho.

:D

I have a pair of Porsche Design oxfords that have different soles for the left and right feet because you use your feet differently while in the car. Most people mistake them for a pair of DMs because the soles are manufactured by Dr Martens.

I think they currently just sell trainers that are co-branded by Adidas for driving. You can tell they are driving ones because they have a massively straight-wedged heel on the left foot and a curved heel on the right foot. The insteps are also subtly different.

Quite pricey though.
