I am using a D5 pump / EK Water Blocks EK-D5 X-RES 140 CSQ - Acetal.

The pump top has 2 inlets and 1 outlet. Can anyone see any problem with using the spare inlet as a drainage point? My idea was to have a pipe coming out attached to a stop valve with a plug on the end. Then when I want to drain my system I take the plug off and attach and extension then open the valve.

Would having this configuration of the spare inlet affect the pump at all?

My other option, but I'm not keen on, it to you a Y adapter on the outlet.

That will be fine. Just remember that no matter what, there will still be a bit of fluid left in the loop after draining.

Yeah, I found that out last time with the radiator. Luckily it was only clear water so hasn't stained the carpet :D

I've just thought of a better way to do it so my setup will be like this..

Does this look ok? Will a 90 degree fitting before and after the pump do any harm?

Can't see having a 90 Degree fitting on either side causing any problems. Just make sure the pump has been fully flooded with coolant before you power on.

I have 90° alphacool rotary barb fittings on the inlet and outlet of my D5. Still run it on the lowest speed without any issues.
