I've had 2 requests today for the settings I've used to overclock my 2600k. Well, here they are:

• Enable Power Saving C3 & C6
• Enable Intel Speed Step
• Set CPU Ratio Control to Manual
• Set Max ratio to x45
• Disable Turbo
• Set LLC to Level 3 (or High if that’s the option)
• CPU vCore offset to +0.030
• Add one notch to VTT (not nessessary but I had some module issues)
• Disable Spreadspectrum
• If not already done, select XMP memory speed

Enjoy

:)

Thanks! Great idea to create a thread for it too.
I'll be trying this out over the next day or too and if necessary will come back with questions.

In fairness I didn't just overclocked and I'll keep gaming till something goes wrong

Fine so far

I've had a look at my pc's bios, and I'm not sure how to match up the settings you've described above to the settings I actually have. I couldn't figure out how to set turbo to 45.

I'll post screenshots of the relevant BIOS ages below.
AI Tweaker upper and lower

ASUSBios_01_AITweaker3.jpg

While on AI Tweaker page, if I click CPU Power Managemnent, i get this page:
ASUSBios_03_CPUPowerManagement_Turbodisabled.jpg

If I change Turbo to Enabled, it becomes this:
ASUSBios_03_CPUPowerManagement_Turboenabled.jpg

There's another page with CPU settings. The Advanced tab looks like this:
ASUSBios_04_Advanced.jpg

If I click CPU Configuration I get this:
ASUSBios_05_Advanced_CPU.jpg

Can you tell me what settings I need to change to overclock my CPU?

Pic #1

Change Turbo Ration to 'by all cores' (I think that's what it's called) and the ratio option will appear - set this to x45

Change Load-line calibration to level 3 or high

Scroll down a little further in pic #1 and disable spreadspectrum

Pic #2

CPU Voltage is already in offset but you need to specify the amount. In the 'CPU Offset Voltage' use the '+' key and change it to +0.030

Pic #3

Disable Turbo

Pic #4/5/6 - you shouldn't have to do anything here

If you're still struggling, trust me your skype/steam details and I can do a VOIP later in the day! (Mid-late afternoon)

If you manage to get the above working, spend some time playing games to check if it's stable - if you have issues, you may want to update the BIOS!

Thanks for the response. i didn't get a chance to try these out today, I'll see if I can tomorrow.

The spreadspectrum thing: I noticed two entries that it could be:
VRM Spread spectrum, and much further down on the same page, CPU Spread spectrum. Should they both be disabled?
