Just thought id post this up to see what you guys think before I take it to the garage later this week.

Doing 65 - 75MPH my car makes a whistle tone. Its not loud, only just louder than the engine. But it is just at the right tone it leaves a ringing in my ears. IE I can hear it in my ears when I stop the car at lights.

Could this be a fault with one of the turbo's?

Car is a Insignia BiTurbo 2012 plate done 41500 miles.

Get it checked seen as it is under warranty.

My guess is that you are going mental and focusing on the noise way too much. Turbo's tend to make a whistle with all the air going through them.

Going mental yes, for other reasons :-p but the wife and son also commented on the sound today. My turbo's have always made a nice sound but this new tone isn't too nice. Would be horrible on a long drive. Just seems to be at that speed bracket which is odd.

I had one of those for a while and I couldn't hear the turbos. Suggest you get it looked at.

I once had this on an Audi after the turbo was replaced (the original one exploded). But it wasn't that bad. I don't think it nessessarily means there is something wrong with it though.

Oh I don't think its bad the car will explode etc. Its more of an annoyance than anything. The same feeling as leaving a night club with that constant tone in your ears from the loud music. I've called the dealer and explained, they are going to call me back. They didn't book it straight is, so maybe they think i am just going mental too. . .

Have you tried dipping the clutch to get the engine to idle or changing gear to get the engine revs higher/lower when the noise is occurring, this would help round it down to wind noise or a problem with the engine.

The few times I've noticed turbo whistle is just prior to it going bang!
It's happened twice in my driving career, both times the whistle became noticeable with the windows shut, whilst you may expect to hear the turbo on a 13 litre artic, normally you don't at all, within 2k miles (which didn't take long to rack up) it had blown up.
Granted, I'm talking about large turbo diesel HGV's but it rang a bell hence my comment.

I'd get it checked out but, I'd imagine it's not that serious!
