What cars did you really want and maybe came close to having but never owned due to one reason or another? Plus, looking back now you wonder what all the fuss was about. :)

Some of the motors I had a major pining for:

Early 90's
Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9
Renault 5 GT Turbo

Late 90's
Escort Cosworth
Renault Clio Williams

The 00's
Honda Integra Type R
Mitsubishi FTO
SEAT Leon Cupra R
Any TVR

Most of these I simply couldn't quite afford at the time, were too much to insure or were just a bad idea to use day to day.

3000GT

Still pining for one, just frightened of the engine bay on it.

I guess, similar story with the RX7

bad idea to use day to day.

Lancia Delta Integrale about 10 years ago.

Was doing about 60 miles a day commute so went for an EP3 Type R instead (current car).

Now only doing about 100 miles a month and I know which one I'd rather have on my drive.

Can't remember what version Integrale was available for 12-13k back then but I think a decent Evo II would have been on the cards or at least an Evo I.

Had major want for a vauxhall calibra when I was around 17. Insurance soon killed that idea :D

I still want some jap turbo nutcase car.

Sort of did it.... Had a Series 1 Landy instead. :D

Fiat Barchetta - that turned out okay though because Dad bought one anyway so I still get to drive one :)

Too many bits of Detroit scrap iron to count.

A Mercedes 190E that belonged to a friend of mine who passed away. It was sold on eBay for a pittance before I got chance to offer anything for it. It was truly immaculate.

Yeah, I think they're a fair bit more expensive now. A decent evo 2 seems to go for well over 20k now.

First it was the Escort Cosworth, was obsessed with that car from about the age of 8 or 9 and wanted one so badly but by the time i could actually drive and think about affording one they're just too old, too much money and i think i'd be really disappointed :(

Lately it's been the Honda NSX, which i came close to realistically getting about 3 years ago but their values just keep going up and up so i can't see it happening now.

Cosworths when I was younger, the ownership experience soon put paid to that mind you!

These days, I still want an Alpina B12 e38 but doubt I'll ever get one given how rare they are, how old they are and how much the good ones fetch!

Always loved M5's so thats a probable I hope!

8 series bmw,
Also always wanted a Z3 when they first came out(must have been 15ish) now they just look meh.

Kinda strange considering BMW's do very little for me.

Mine are quite modest

Capri 2.8
Golf GTI mk2
Peugeot 205 GTI
Audi Quattro
MGC 3.0 straight six

I could afford any of the them now as classics but don't have the space :(

Always wanted a Corrado VR6 when they were new. Test drive one but my girlfriend at the time (now wife) didn't like it so persuaded me to buy a Golf instead.

Scratched that itch now :D
