Hi, the rear and front USB 3.0 ports have suddenly stopped working on my ASUS Maximus VI Formula motherboard.

I am running Windows 8.1 and there are no errors under my USB devices in device manager. I can charge my phone from these ports but they don't work in windows.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Actually it is only the row of 4 usb 3.0 ports that don't work. There is a row of 2 further down that work fine. Also the front ports don't work.

First of all, try turning off Fast Boot if it's on (read the manual if needed for your particular motherboard's method). Report back.

OK disabled fast boot, still not working....no change.

I have tried updating the usb3.0 asmedia drivers, and it says "Can't find ASM107x hub controller in current platform". These drivers are off the Asus website for my board.

In device manager it says "Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0100 (Microsoft)".

I have had this board for 18 months, no issues. Seems like it is the ASMedia USB 3.00 ports that are not working, as the others are intel.

I would try updating BIOS (through an Intel USB obviously), if you haven't already, and then try re-installing the ASMedia drivers again. You may need to RMA the board unfortunately if that doesn't work or nobody else has any suggestion.

Had a similar issue with some laptops at work. Fixed it by removing everything under the USB category and rebooting - Windows then re-detected it all and worked fine.

I have updated the BIOS, deleted all USB devices etc.

Think the board is knackered, just phoned the place I bought it from and they have said I will be without the board for a month if I send it in. Nightmare, what a useless warranty.

Don't know what I have done to fix it, but is is fixed now.

Think I uninstalled everything under USB in device manager, then rebooted. It then allowed me to flash the firmware, it would not let me flash it before.

Anyways, all seems ok now. Thank you all for your help.

Apologies for digging up an old thread but I'm having the same problem. I tried to use the firmware updater posted above but it could not detect the ASMedia controller. There also appears to be no reference to the ASMedia USB 3.0 controller in the BIOS - only the ASMedia SATA Controller. I have the latest BIOS installed. Does anyone have any ideas?
