lol if true its going to kick off
and they wont be popular on the forums
8gb 980 would have been :)

Total waste of time

The 128bit bus dealing with 2gb of memory struggles @1080p, expecting it to cope with twice the amount of memory is really asking for trouble.

funny card tho huh?
i know its not always cool to talk prices here but some 4gb versions will go to £230?
hmhm...

Depends how fast the memory is... :p

/runs and hides

Won't make the slightest difference if the bottleneck is the bus.

The memory on the standard 2gb 960 is very fast but it is still hindered by the bus. Put twice as much memory on the card and you could be looking at a stutterfest that a GTX 970 would be proud of.

With 3gb and priced at £150 it would be a realistically priced, decent mid range card. In order to move the mid range forward it needs to be sub £150.

It really doesn't need 4gb with the likely accompanying £190 price ticket.

Maybe they ain't selling as many as they would like and think the 2GB of memory is to blame.
