We ordered this in Q3 last year and finally picked it up on Sunday. We had a 2012 Panamera Diesel before this which was a lovely car. I (my wife) ran it for around 10 months and 20 000 miles.
My wife loved the Panamera so much that we decided to order another, this time with a proper (well not that fast) petrol engine plus a few batteries.
It is supposed to do 80 MPG, however as we have not installed the charging point we have only got around 35 so far but I suspect we will average around 40 if we charge it every night. It can do around 22 miles on a full charge, its actually very very nice around town. It has 330 BHP from a 3.0l super charged engine + 100 bhp from the electric motor. It can run in all electric mode to 80mph but I find after low 70's the engine kicks in. Part of my idea behind buying this was that I wanted to move into Zone 1 in london and my wife would be going into the congestion zone everyday (this was before she decided she wants a divorce
) because its a hybrid it is exempt from the congestion charge and road tax which would save us £2.5k per year.
As the car is a keeper we more or less ticked every option box we wanted. I did miss a couple of things that I now regret including soft close doors and adaptive cruise control.
So far I am not a massive fan of the air suspension as it seems to be making me feel a little sick but I get motion sickness really easily. The thing has leather everywhere, I can not find a bit of plastic that is not covered in leather anywhere. The seats are so much better than my old car, we opted for the 18 way adaptive seats which are stupid money but worth it. The Bose sound system is quite poor but there was no Burmester option on the Hybrid. The boot space is also quite limited but its still better than my 911.
The wooden heated steering wheel is just awesome, it feels so nice and really gives the car a luxury feel. I also quite like the wood trim we specced, a bit over priced with the wheel but still nice.
It is on winter wheels at the moment but I will put a nice set of 20" Turbo wheels on it soon.
As for cost, it was expensive and it will depreciate very hard, but my wife is self employed and as its going to be used for work most of the time so we can offset some of the car against tax because its a plug in hybrid we get a 100% first year allowance. I took 50% of the cars value on PCP at 7.3% however I plan to pay it off before the end of the year as the dealer give us a £2.5k incentive for taking out the PCP. Overall after you take off the £5k plug in grant, the tax savings and the fact that I dont have to pay for a warranty for the next 3 years the cost to upgrade was very small.
