I tend to use a lot off puff pastry but never tried my hand at filo. I'm talking ready made stuff here, not from scratch.

The only thing I can think of is like a feta cheese and spinach filled pie I've seen recently. Is there any other "meatier" suggestions?

Ground nuts (maybe walnuts) with blue cheese would work well I imagine. Maybe crispy fried pork with paprika/chilli and something sweet (caramelised onions?) too? Just random ideas :)

Not meatier but you must try M'hanncha which is a great Moroccan pudding.
Serve with some yoghurt/cream mixed with honey.

You can also make pasty slices/pie with filo, so any suitable pasty/pie filling.

Ottolenghi's surprise tatin uses a puff pastry topping (which as it's served upside down then becomes the base) which is freakin' delicious - the goats cheese and tomato juices melt into the pastry making it obscenely good. I always skip the caramel step because it's a PITA and easy to screw up if you don't get the timing exactly right, plus after eating it I can't say I missed the sweetness of the caramel.

I imagine it'd work with filo - though I guess you wouldn't get the same soaked base effect I'm sure it'd be good still!

I made an apple pie *ish* with filo in a a 2lb loaf tin.

Thinly sliced apple, lemon juice, cinnamon sugar, bit more cinnamon, nutmeg, tiny little bit of butter. Wrap in the filo in the loaf tin.

Don't they use filo for samosa's? or something simalar?

Could do <insert filling> samaos of your choice - strangest one I've done was the classic baked beans, sausages and cheese pasty (replaced for filo)
