so i'll share this rare loop that my group have used in the past, we've all moved on to regular trading as more profitable. the whole loop take about 1.5 hrs

enjoy!

Thanks for the route, always nice to try something different!

Sorry if I'm being dim though - where do you sell the items you've picked up at the various stations? Is it the systems listed in column H? ie. buy from on the left and sell to on the right as opposed to stockpiling and selling all in one place?

Little tip for you, then:-

If you're concentrating on rares runs for a bit, lose the scoop and replace it with another cargo hold.

The amount you can make trading really does tend to outweigh the cost of fuel, particularly if you are keen on making your runs as time-efficient as possible.

It's not really an area I've studied in detail myself, but you should be able to incorporate some close-to-star outposts (i.e. easy to dock at) just to refuel at on your rares runs.

To be honest it probably takes me as long to fly to, line up and dock at a station as it does to scoop!

I tend to refuel properly at every station while collecting the rares and then just do one big refuel on the journey to the end sale point so it's not too bad!

Or get a bigger scoop?
Rare runs generally do not use much cargo and an A4 scoop doesn't take long to fill a tank.

I was filling my Cobra 44T cargo capacity on my rare runs. When you factor the time/faff spent fuel scooping plus the loss in cargo space, it doesn't really make sense. You would have made more money in that time by progressing through the run.

So I have a day off work and thought I would have a quick go on Elite.
Not played since the 1.2 update (many other games to play!).

So loaded up with cargo and set the route.
Undocked from the space station and then things started to go wrong...

Silent running and landing gear (amongst other systems) triggered on and off.
Turbo auto engaged - in the station!
The cargo I just bought, all 500k's worth started jettisoning.
The ship eventually exploded - no idea why, probably heat build up from silent running switching on and off.

Turns out all the joystick binds have gotten messed up since I last played.

So doing a quick trade run before lunch has cost me (after insurance) 650k.

Sigh :(

Genuine lol!!! Sorry for your pain!
Had a similar issues when i switched to an x52 without reading or configuring it and just launching!

Urgh, I lost my ship for the first time today :(

Bit off more than I could chew against an expert anaconda in my moderately upgraded cobra and ended up doing a runner with 7% hull left. I had also accidentally hit a police vessel during the fight so I was wanted. Of course I go and get interdicted whilst heading to lave station for repairs. Stood no chance against another commander in a well kitted out larger ship. Cost me 45k insurance bill :(

Unlucky, you'll have to get better at evading!;)

Aw, that sucks. :(

When you can afford it, you should look at upgrading the thrusters on your Cobra, if you can. With grade A thrusters, the only thing that can currently catch you when you boost is another Cobra with grade A thrusters. Handy for quick escapes.

I did my best to evade but couldn't hold him off. Tried to run for it but my cobra was limping badly and he caught me easily :(

Think I have C3 thrusters at the moment as its the best I can afford.

I've found a decent app on the google play store called Elite Notes.

It's handy if you have a tablet that you can place next to you, it has the same fonts as the game and looks like an external monitor for Elite.

Good for keeping track of trade prices etc

Just read it is coming out on the Xbox One too, didn't see that coming, but good for the game since Frontier will have another revenue stream and incentive to keep working on the game.

PC, Mac and XBone in same universe..... :D

When asked, I’ve said we’d be mad not to consider bringing Elite: Dangerous to console. Well, that madness is about to end! Today we’re announcing that we will be bringing the full Elite: Dangerous to Xbox One this year. Xbox players have supported Frontier well over the years, and thanks to games like Zoo Tycoon and ScreamRide we know the hardware well, so Xbox One is a natural fit for Elite: Dangerous’ console debut.

Elite: Dangerous on Xbox One will be the complete and authentic Elite: Dangerous experience. It will not be "dumbed down". We’ll be working with an all-new audience, but that doesn’t mean a change in direction for the game, and nor does it mean slowing development on the PC version. The second of our updates – Wings – is being beta tested by some of you right now, and the third will be coming in the spring, free of charge. We’ll be talking more about the third major update – Powerplay – soon!

More players across more formats means we can devote more resources to development. The more players we have, the better the game will become. Elite: Dangerous is a living game and it will keep growing on all our formats so long as people are excited to play it.

I’m also pleased to announce PC, Mac and Xbox One players will all share the same overarching narrative and galaxy state. That means even more players contributing to the wars, power struggles and Community Goals across the galaxy.

If you want to keep up to date on our Xbox One release you can sign up to be kept informed at http://www.elitedangerous.com/xboxone .

With the new Mac and Xbox One players joining us we’ll see new faces on the forums and we hope you’ll make them feel welcome. The Elite: Dangerous community has always been strong, and I’m sure it’ll be even stronger the more it grows.

Thanks for playing, and Right On, Commanders.

Hope XB1 means PC does not suffer content wise at least it guarantees PC online servers for another few years at the very least I bet the whole backend will move onto MS Azure platform that would make economic sense for FD IMO.

It certainly explains why we can only have primary and secondary fire in our fire groups, and no additional fire buttons... :p

So this game is now going multi-format allowing cross platforms within the same universe ? Well if that's true it sucks massive donkey @*%$$~# !! They will probably say it won't affect development but ofc it will, plus it will probably get dumbed down even more than it is now.

Hmm, how's Star Citizen coming along ?
