Adblobker for android?

Adblock essentially doesn't work due to having to change proxy, which kills connectivity for my other apps.

Any adblocker that doesn't need proxy settings changed?

Adaway seems to do the job for me. You won't find it on the Play Store of course, but it should be easy enough to find.

+1 But you need to be rooted for it to work.

And I'm guessing the OP isn't rooted if he is having to play around with proxy servers.

try adguard, but you have to pay a sub/year for full functionality, plus when it's enabled it can play silly buggers with things like pushbullet/airdroid as it uses a vpn.

It doesn't require root and it works fairly well i guess, just the deal breaker was being able to tweak it on the free version and i'm not prepared to pay a sub

I've experimented with a few options before rooting, adblock was the best of the lot but wasn't anywhere near perfect.

Decided to root in the end and now using adaway. I can't remember the last time I saw an advert.

Pretty crappy phones have to be rooted to get rid of ads. I'm a bit nervous in case my new note 4 dies from trying to root.

the company that makes android is primarily an advertising company. why would they make a device that can easily block their main source of income?
