Guys

Im sure you get a lot of these posts but I am looking to upgrade my machine with the below items. Just want to be sure im not making any rookie mistakes here. It will be used for Gaming. I have a limited budget so any advise you can offer to reduce the cost without affecting the performance too much (bang for buck) would be much appreciated.

Thanks Guys! your the best! :)

Id go for the team group vulcan out of all those ram kits stulid has listed, lowest profile of the lot so no problems with cooler choice.

Well I just checked my PSU and its only 550w. For some reason I thought it was bigger, but it was bought some time ago. It is an antec neo he PSU which is apparently ski ready. I'm pretty sure its a good PSU but need to find out the power consumption is for my new build. That's part of the reason I chose the gtx because it was fairly low on power consumption in comparison to over cards.

My case is an unusual one. I actually built it inside an old toy chest and it doubles up as a coffee table when its not in use. Just open the lid and there's the monitor just like a large laptop. I have a 120 mm fan either end for intake and outlet and an arctic freezer pro 7 CPU fan. There is currently nothing covering the top when it is open so airflow should be fine. I am looking to custom build a box to fit it all in better and maybe fit water cooling but that's a subject for another post when I get around to it.

Thanks for the ram tips, I will take a look at them when I get a chance

@McGraw - was there a reason you didn't build this spec?

@setter - yes, that's the one. And it is pretty old. I bought it at the same time as my Asus p5be mobo! Might that be an issue?

@mushtafa - I wasn't aware if this issue, I will need to look into it. I will try and get a photo of my case, but I will warn you its a bit of a mess and only partially finished!

So you like the build yet you would change the mobo, cpu and ram?

or when you say amd do you mean the gpu?

On some builds people spend all their money on CPU and get relatively poor graphics cards, so downgrading CPU gives a better overall build. That's not the case at all for you, so totally ignore him :)
