Hi All

Has anyone got a suggestion for exciting new consumer tech products that are on the horizon? I'll be looking in to this, but if anyone knows of any exciting developments, please post.

Thanks

watches that do the same thing your phone can do but only on a smaller more uncomfortable screen with a battery life of 18hours *cough* 7 if your lucky.

ofcourse they are clearly not meant to be functional but a fashion accessory/look at my wealth I can fritter it away you dirty peasant!

Not a whole lot.
VR keeps on promising to be amazing, tech companies are insisting that wearables are cool, health tech is meant to be a boom area with no killer products, TVs are now a little bendy, laptops are thinner, phones are bigger, low level APIs promise a marginal graphics boost, the internet is a little faster, but websites are dumbed down for mobile as standard, keyboards are mechanical again, overclocking is impossible on cheap kit, datacenters are back in fashion, and social media is now all but mandatory.

fixed that for you - otherwise spot on. ;)

Holo lens is definitely the most promising thus far.

If made right, it covers both VR and Google Glasses idea with more real world use without look too much like an Imperial Pilot from Star Wars.

As a Microsoft project, I'm sure it'll flop, only to be picked up by Apple and "made revolutionary", along with a significant initial reduction in features and battery life.

And a mark up price for its branding.

It really depends if Nadella is pushing for it as part of his devices and services vision, so going beyond OS / Office. Having the Holo lens constantly connected to the cloud, working in sync with whatever devices it tethers / connects to e.g. iPad / Tablet / Phones will give it the edge.

But that's just speculation. Looks at Illumiroom... :(:(:( (Nadella wasn't at the helm then)

Saw a HP Sprout (no idea why they called it that) in store the other day, projects a second screen on to your desk as a interactive workspace sorta thing. Apparently it can scan in 3d objects as well but I didn't see it.

Interesting way for desktops to go , bit pricey mind.
