Pretty much all Maxwell are locked, they do not benefit at all from more voltage on air, myself and 8 Pack tested extensively with modified BIOS's going over 1.25v caused instability when on air.
More voltage is for LN2 ONLY. Plus running such higher voltages reduces lifespan and has no place in a regular gaming PC.

If you recently purchased a card and it's still in the return period, it's likely that your retailer will still assist you in getting the promo applied.
