So today at work I had my phone on me as usual (In my right pocket) and when I went to get my phone from my pocket to send a text, I noticed the screen completely cracked. Now this seems totally random as I have dropped the thing many times before and never had a single issue, but now the phone is completely unusable due to the touch screen being unresponsive, and from what exactly?! It's not like I took at sledge hammer to the knee or anything.

The phone is insured, but I really need this phone repaired due to the fact that I have a few accounts (Main email, Google account, PayPal) that use a software authenticator to access.

Anyway, my main issue is obviously the fact the screen is no longer working (Relying on my Moto 360 to read texts at the moment...). The LCD doesn't look damaged, (Screen looks clear other than these cracks) just the glass covering it. Does anyone have any experience with such things? Is the glass attached to the LCD in a way that makes it a pain/more costly to repair? As in, will I have to replace the entire screen?

Do you have backup google codes? If not find a device already logged in and print off some backup codes. Looking at a spare parts db it looks like you'd need a new front outer which comes with the LCD screen :/ You can buy the digitiser separately too though so not 100% sure. You checked in with Sony regarding the cost to fix? Sony's turnaround is ~6 business days from experience.

Thanks for that. I seem to have recovered most things and managed to disable the authenticator on my email address as it was set to remember this computer thankfully.

I got a rough quote and you are correct, it would be the screen as well that would need replaced, which is around £125. I ended up buying a cheap smart phone for the time being (Huawei Ascend Y550). Just need to wait and see what the insurance company say.

EDIT: Just noticed Google hasn't been syncing my contacts for the past 3 months *sigh* :(

USB mouse + OTG cable or bluetooth mouse. Parts alone are going to set you back 80 I'd imagine so while it totally sucks id go down the path of OEM replacement. Some of my sony repairs (I test a lot of phones, this isn't a mark on any brand) have been straight replacements to warn you, this is how they do turnarounds quicker than most. Turbo edit: check bank too, a few accounts have phone cover. Get the IMEI by typing #06# with your mouse / it's on the side of the box if you need to register it with your bank er... before you break it. And don't commit fraud.

Ohh an OTG cable, never thought of that.

But yeah, I am insured via my bank :p . Registered as soon as I got it the phone. Though I did update the type of phone tonight as they never had the Z2 on their list at the time. I'm sure that wont make a difference.

Cheers for the info.
