monitor recommendations

A mate has bought a 13" retina macbook pro and is looking for a monitor to output to. Can anyone recommend any and also what leads he will need?

Vague question...his budget could be anything from £80 to £2000 for a monitor, and the cables he'll need will depend on the monitor.

We need information such as budget, intended usage, desired size and resolution, any personal preferences (he may not be using the display for colour critical work however he may want a display with excellent colour reproduction, ruling out TN panels - I know that's what I like!).

A fair comment, this fella is tighter than a very tight thing indeed so there may be some comedy in this reply:

For CAD detailed work primarily with some photoshop work possibly
