What would I need to buy and do in order to reduce the speed of these fans? It hooks up directly to a 4 pin molex connector.

Something like a 12V to 7V or 5V reducer for a 4 pin molex?

Move the 12v wire (that's the one on the outside) to the other side of the connector. That's a 5v mod.

For the 7v mod move the original 12v wire back into the 12v and move the ground wire into the 5v.

I don't like the 7v mod as it puts an unnatural load on the PSU, you are not really supposed to use the 5v as a return. Some PSUs won't tolerate it.

Your LEDs will obviously dim when you drop their voltage. To retain brightness and drop the fan speed would require some rewiring.

Best thing to do though is disconnect the whole thing and take it out of your system. In normal conditions a RAM cooler is not needed.

Would it also work with voltage reducing resistor?

Put a 10 Megohm resistor in series with the fans, that'll drop the speed to zero and also turn the LEDs off and solve your problem of noise and light pollution. It'll still look ghastly in your case though, no resistor is going to make this monstrosity invisible to the naked eye. Your RAM will still run cool. RAM is efficient these days.

why would they just stick a molex on the end? pretty damn stupid, but then its a stupid product, so I guess its fitting...
